Hey guys,

I have a i5-4690(non-k); GTX 1080 with this AOC G2460PQU Monitor.

I have posted a question here yesterday regarding upgradation of my CPU. I was told I need to get a better monitor instead.

I have narrowed down to two:

1. Acer Predator XB271HU 27 inch 4 ms IPS
2. ASUS PG278Q 27 inch 1 ms TN

Could you guys please help me to choose which of the above is good for gaming? Is IPS 4 ms & TN 1ms really gonna show a big difference while gaming?

Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks

TFTCentral did reviews of each of these monitors, and provide more information about them than you probably ever wanted to know. : P You may not want to read the lengthy reviews in their entirety, though you can skip to the relevant parts that you are interested in knowing more about (or just the conclusion for a summary).

Asus PG278Q Review
Acer XB270HU Review

The difference in pixel response times between these two monitors is not likely to be noticeable, and actually the Acer with the 4ms IPS panel had slightly lower input lag, according to their test results, although both offer low pixel response times...

So only those are different between the two panels? What about 4ms vs 1ms ? Will I notice a big difference?

Acer XB270HU Review

The difference in pixel response times between these two monitors is not likely to be noticeable, and actually the Acer with the 4ms IPS panel had slightly lower input lag, according to their test results, although both offer low pixel response times and extremely low input lag that should be imperceptible. They actually tested the two against one another in the Acer review, and going by their conclusion, they claimed the Acer is their "new king of gaming monitors" due to its IPS panel, beating out the Asus as their previous favorite. Both are probably excellent gaming monitors though.

There may be other differences worth noting in their reviews, but you can check them for yourself for more details. Do note that the Acer tested was a XB270HU, while you mentioned the XB271HU, which is probably just a newer revision, but you might want to find out if anything changed from what was tested there.
