There are people who have the client downloaded/installed they have a key and are ready to go, but the problem: They don't meet the system requirements to play the game.

The system requirements are what a higher end PC looked like 3 years ago. This is minimum. Meaning the recommended system requirements are pretty high for this game.

They recommend a GTX 460/275 Radeon 5830/4890

Even at the recommended you will not max the settings, it will be a few years before that will be possible. The same thing happened when they released Final Fantasy XI, it's the way SE codes their MMOs

Yeah, makes me sad to think that I might not get 60+ smooth fps on my 4GHZ Core i7 920 and GTX295 🙁 I am curious to find out how my system does against this game though. If the 295's weren't more than the 460's I would get two of them. Freaking lame.

Final Fantasy has been me first true video game love. From I to VII, US versions to botched japanese translations, I loved them all. But now? I don't know... It's just not the same anymore. It used to be a good balance, something like 75% "classic" fantasy and 25% sci-fi. Now it's 10% fantasy and 90% post-apocalyptic hyperactive colorful parallel universe.

Glad the series have success, it's just not for me anymore.

"Applications for the FINAL FANTASY XIV Open Beta Test have been temporarily suspended. Please wait until we are ready to accept new applications and then try again."

Zounds! Thwarted again!

STILL getting a server congestion error. Anyone else having this problem? Cknobman, you are getting an applications suspended notice? I am not getting that, just a server overload problem notice.

Zak_mckraken, I know exactly what you mean. I have played every FF since 1, and you definitely notice each title get progressively.... dont know the term... Farther out there. "Apocalyptic hyperactive colorful parallel universe" actually explains it quite well lol. Though I still play the games and love them, there is definitely a different feel. I do wish we could progress back to somewhere in between. FF6-7 era for me. :)

I just can't get over FF X. When 12 was released I was so excited, I expected not only better graphics, sound and a little bit of a re-vamped system, but an overall better game/story. Wow, was I a little rocked. 12 was beyond horrible. I wanted to throw up so many times playing FF 12.

I do like the older FF games, but X was my absolute favorite. The story, characters, villains, setting ..and entire world were perfect.

I just can't connect to the newer FF games, they feel so different. The characters just aren't doing it for me. The new direction Square went in was VERY wrong IMHO.

Like a poster above wrote, the game no longer feels very "Fantasy", but rather heavily "Sci-fi".

Little confidence in the people running this thing. First was severe issues with beta registration for purchasing FF13. Took them weeks to resolve for me, and never actually got me into the closed beta anyways. Now, can't even register for the open beta. May just take Marvel up on their offer to satisfy my need for MMORPG until KOTOR comes out..

[citation][nom]NotYetRated[/nom]YES bye bye memorial day weekend!!![/citation]

Lucky SOB, I get stuck writing lame sociology reports and "responses to encourage critical thinking in postings". Its so strange how low-key FF14 is though, its like Square is hardly making any marketing effort, perhaps on purpose.

haha not so lucky so far. Cant seem to get myself a key! Luckily my days of long nights spent report writing and zero weekends spent studying are over :)

I am also surprised at the lack of marketing. I have yet to see a single commercial or any mention of the game in anything but tech site articles and such. Its possible they want to stay low key on launch to iron out any bugs that are found. Quite possibly fear losing a majority of early subscribers due to bugs hindering game play. Get it solid and stable then pump of the marketing dollars... Who knows though.

I hope that the game is as friendly to solo players as they have been touting, otherwise I think that my MMO days are numbered.

I think i will be ok with my i7 960 @ 4ghz and 2 480s :)

Still can't get the client to work properly though

Yeah, I've been trying to apply since they started accepting applications, and I still only get a `too much congestion` or `applications suspended` page. Sigh.

To those of you who are having trouble downloading updates: You need to open a port in your firewall. The updater uses BitTorrent, and the port it needs is recorded in C:\Users\Username\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Version\downloads\upnp_port_mapping.log. You only need to open it for TCP, not UDP.

hmmm... does that mean that the offical FF14 benchmark may be a good benchmark that Toms can include in the future graphic card review?

lol

[citation][nom]nightcrawl3r[/nom]Is this Final Fantasy going to be like the one that came out a while ago on PS3 and 360?[/citation]

Nope... That was FF11. FF14 is looking much better with totally different story/game design and some what similar race setup.

I was in the closed beta. The game seems nice, but I am still not used to the new way of game play. I need to fighure out where are those short keys I used to have on FF11... By the way, it actually tax my Phenom/HD4850 system heavly. Guess it is time for me to upgrade my system....>_

[citation][nom]whooleo[/nom]Anybody have performance info/stats on this game! make sure to include system specs.[/citation]

Better just download the offical benchmark. If you do not get over 1500 score on your system... then forget about this game. If you want to be happy and enjoy the best out of it.... you will need to have score more than 5-8k
Here is the link to the benchmark which is a nice preview how the game will look like.
