Final thoughts on a comp build.

Okay i will probably be keeping this comp for about two years i am building. I will use the computer for gaming. I do some photoshop and sony vegas but not that much, using for mostly gaming. Now I am most likly getting a 19inch monitor which usually has 1440x900 unless there is a big difference from 1680x1050 compared to 1440x900 then id get the bigger res. I have used a 1440x900. I currently game on a 17inch laptop core 2 duo 2.8ghz 6mb l2 cache and with a 9600m gt at 1680x1050. So anything i will see an improvement.

Okay i have 2 builds dont know which to lean more towards on which will be better for gaming.
first if i play on 1440x900 will the ati 5770 do all games at least at high or max? with playable 50fps +
or i can get 5850.
that goes for gpu.

I will either get the i7 870 for $229 at microcenter or i7 875k for $249

Now i will use the same power supply ram and hdd/ssd for the amd.
amd phenom II x4 955be for $140 or amd phenom II x4 965 be.

i am most likely going to get the 19inch 1440x900 80% sure ive used a 1440x900 and i liked it more than my 1680x1050.

so that being said which would be better for gaming. and possibility might wait for the 6000series radeon and get the 6770 if rumors for it is true. I am not gonna xfire only gonna use 1 card. i will overclock after a while but not right once i get it. so overclocking isnt the main priority.

for one super power full card and super overclocked you will seriously never even hit 700 watts at super peak load

you'll hardly break 650 watts

You won't be able get 50fps with max settings on the most graphically demanding games, but everything should be playable with lower settings. Here are some benchmarks:

The Sandforce SSDs are very competitive at around 64GB. They cost a little less and have much much higher write speeds.

The Phenom II X4 955 is a better value for gaming. It isn't nearly as powerful as an i7-870, but it won't bottleneck these graphics cards.

im leaning more towards the 870. and im proably gonna get a 700-750 W psu. gonna use that money i saved on the PSU to get a 1680x1050 monitor and getting the 5850 or wait for the 6000series not sure yet. thanks alot guys. and will 1600 vs 1333 a big difference?

Unless you plan to crossfire your graphics cards later (and you go with the HD 5850), you won't benefit from going with anything more expensive than a high quality 500-600W power supply (modular, 80 plus certified).

DDR3 1600 vs. 1333 doesn't make a huge difference, but it also doesn't cost very much more.

Even if you do all of that, you won't be drawing more than 350W at full load. The OCZ ModXStream Pro 600W power supply wouldn't even be stressed. You could use this combo; it is an excellent value:
