Why do I use chrome?
1. Back when firefox did have quite a few problems, I switched to chrome, and now I know dozens of shortcuts, tools, addons, etc.
2. It updates itself automatically.
3. It had better websocket support when I was creating a websocket-based app.
4. I prefer Inspect Element over Firebug.
Those are some major reasons, but I could list more but I have better things to do with my time.

[citation][nom]Vladislaus[/nom]This is the reason why I prefer to use Firefox. I don't want to have a permanent service running in the background of my computer to check for browser updates even if the browser isn't running. Why not check when the browser is running like firefox does?[/citation]
You sir have a brain, that is why. I too am in your boat and prefer my applications to check for updates only when I run them. Nowadays though, seems like everybody wants to install an auto-updating service/process. Chrome, Desktop, iTunes, QuickTime, etc. I like my FireFox and Steam just fine. 😀

So we got a mini-IE phenomenon going on here.

Doesn't matter how good the browser is (FF7, IE9) the clueless public still buys into advertising campaigns (Chrome, FF in the old days) and switches to it.

Now you know how Microsoft feels, Mozilla.

IE has its marketshare, because it's the browser requiring the least efforts to maintain in a corporate world. That's why its usage levels drop during the days where people are generally not at work.

And firefox ... well I only have it to run an sqllite plugin .... nothing much else it's worth using for.

I use both Firefox and Google Chrome. Chrome seems faster but not quite as stable. Firefox is a lot better then it was like 6 months ago. Both are awesome compared to Internet explorer

I use Chrome for private browsing because it is easier to launch for that purpose, but FF is my browser of choice and don't see myself moving permanently to Chrome. I should mention that often I will keep both browsers open, especially if I am logged on to two different email accounts or two different Twitter accounts. I agree with an earlier comment; I dont trust Google to impartially handle my browsing behavior, and while using Chrome feel somewhat uncomfortable. It is not like Google is a disinterested party when it comes to issues of browsing destination; one of the tons of reasons I prefer FF.

My mom's playing some game on facebook quite seriously, and is doing so on four accounts. To do that effectively, she's used a multitute of browsers.
But yesterday she asked me to reinstall her windows because ie kept throwing up javascript errors (xp) and she only wanted internet explorer and chrome on the computer. Because she didn't like the others.
Based on that, chrome must be the most user friendly browser around and firefox and opera must've given her such a scare that she doesn't even want to consider them anymore.

And we're talking about a pentionist in a wheelchair. Not some it nerd or a fashion loving teen. Those probably have preferences based on something other than usability alone.

Edit: I never was mean enough to her to give her the choice of Safari.
