Mobo (AOpen AX4C max 2) has 2 9 pin male IEEE connectors, labeled 1394 CN1 and
1394 CN2. Included with mobo is IEEE rear peripheral add-on with 2 slots.
Integrated into this add-on are 2 cables, each of which can connect to either
1394 CN1 or 1394 CN2. Apparently the mobo design intended that the 2 firewire
ports be accessed at the rear.

My case (Kasecom TT561B) features a front panel of 2xUSB, 1xIEEE, and audio.
The cable for the front panel IEEE has a plug that does not fit the mobo (e.g.
1394 CN2), but does fit into either of the 2 slots on the IEEE rear peripheral
add-on included with the mobo.

Is there a way to enable front panel IEEE (i.e. is there a cable that adapts the
front panel IEEE plug into the mobo 1394 CN2 connector)? If so, then with 1394
CN2 occupied by the front panel, would only 1 rear IEEE connection be feasible?
Could the IEEE add on peripheral be adapted to "daisy chain" both of its ports
into 1394 CN1?

If so, could all "3" IEEE ports then be accessed simultaneously?

Are you sure that you don't have a pass-through cable? Some front ports have those, where you just drag a cable from the front and plug it into the port on the back. So you would plug that cable into a rear-mounted ieee slot, and then your front slot would basically be an extension, i.e. you plug into the front, but your mobo just sees it as plugging into the back.
