First 5850 Review?

Solution
It was a nice spot twoboxer. I noticed it myself earlier but I thought somebody else must have mentioned it before now.

Just to clarify, it wasn't two *actual* 5850's, but two 5870's with features turned off so that they behaved as 5850's.

I'll repost that 2nd sentence in the main thread.

WHAT?!??!?!

ATI is BUGGIN out with these cards.... oh man, i'm shittin my pants, and i don't even work for nvidia

they are so done. and the 5850 retails at $300?
price was undercut and performance overtaken... oh nvidia, i will be at your funeral.. i can't even imagine what kind of performance/price ratio they'll have to match if they wanna stay in the loop... prices may be not as awesome as the release of the hd 4000 series, but geeez

Total domination, poor Nvidia... 2 x 5850 is ~500$, thats GTX295 price, they will be lucky if they can sell those for 350$ now. BTW, techpowerup havent tested with 8x AA, in this case 5800 series dominance would be even more spectacular.

what's even more wow... going from a 4850 to a 5850 is around a 2x increase in performance

it seems as a 5850is about equal to a 4890... they cud have pretty much pulled a nvidia and did a rename.. im glad they didnt though

*edit*

i retract my statement... its an overall better card. they have really outdone themselves
