cleeve got 7k for his x1800xl aiw on stock.. wat does this say..

It says that the GTO is just an XL with 4 pipes locked. The AIW cards seem to perform worse than the normal cards, though. If the GTO's unlock, one should be able to overclock quite high and reach XL if not near-XT levels of performance.

I think it says my stock X1800 XL scores suck, or that guy has a really high score for a stock X1800 GTO.

That really does sound high. I know it's just bungholio marks, but I'd expect a grand less than that on a 12-pipe GTO...

True enough.

This jives with my first impression of the X1800 GTO: great overclocking potential... at 500Mhz core and memory, you can be damn sure the core will at least get to 650 Mhz with ease, and voila... stock X1800 XL performance.

And that's not even touchiong the memory, stock X1800 GTOs have exactly the same bandwidth as stock X1800 XLs. So once you up the core to erase the 4-pipeline disparity, you have a really great performer.

It appears the GTO/XL conversion that was originally stumbled upon may be hold true however... I"m seeing more and more reviews and unlocking tools appearing indicating this may be possible.

ok i just got home and played a round of BF2

according to fraps I NEVER went lower then 62 fps

this includes helli dog fights flying in and around the city centre.

im looking to post the link to my 3dmark05 score.

strange thing tho, ATItools doesnt recognize the card, according to the tool im running at a default profile.

might venture into the ati catalyst overclock tool. not lookin forward to that 🙁

The picture doesn't show the clockspeeds. Are you saying this is without overclocking?

Can you provide the compare url?

Good point, where are the urls.
Theres a great thing called photoshop and I can make my 9800s 3dmark score 9999999 without urls.

I just retested my X1800 XL @ stock speeds and got 7200ish... the new Cat 6.4 seems to have given it quite a boost.

Still completely clueless as to how a GTO would get what is essentially the same score though.

It probably isnt.

I cant waite untill I get my Athlon64 in a couple of weeks, I cant break 7k with a socket A

Almost there! That's your 3dMark06 score though.

Let's see your 05 score.

Looks like you overclocked a bit... 575 mhz/550 Mhz... still, that's a very mild OC for an X1800, and you still reached 16-pipe X1800 XL scores with ease. Well done.
