Hi everyone, this is my first time posting on this website and my first time building my own computer. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, thanks

I am looking for a mobo for my build, at the moment I am looking at the ddr2/ddr3 combo motherboards. simply because right now i will be able to stack 4x1 gb ddr2 800ghz now cheaply. Then later on once the ddr3 goes down in price i will be able to upgrade to the ddr3. I know nothing about the quality of the brands, other than asus and gig seem to be popular.

right now my build consists of Quad processor q6600 G0 (which i plan on ocing it), and a single graphics card prob 8600 gts 512 mb.

Again any feedback would be great

thanks,

dave

ASUS P5KC and GIGABYTE P35C DS3R support DDR2 and DDR3 , but :

1_DDR2 is limited to 8GB and DDR3 is limited to 4GB, so even if the prices of DDR3 goes down , i dont think it will become useful ,because u have 8GB DDR2 option

2_These boards doesnt OC as good as P35 DS3R and ASUS P5K-E

i were in the same situation , i was always thiking of DDR3 and futureproof , but i went with P5K-E , remember if u want to go with technology , u cant every buy a new motherboard

Ive got a P5K-e also and it goes well for what i want

DDR3 is currently not worth it, speed increase is usually wasted other than in synthetic benchmarks (yipptee do) and the price is astronomical. Get a good DDR2 board and buy lots of it if you got the dough 2x2gb if you can with a 64bit OS. Futureproofing with computers is generally non-existant these days the market moves to quickly. The next time you want an upgrade with any option you go now your most likely gunna need new mobo and cpu anywayz.

not yet waiting for the Nov. cards to come out and see how much the prices go down.

If the 8800 gtx gets down to like 300-400ish i'll get that over the 8600gts =)

GTX aint comming down in price im afraid.
The new card comming might be the go 8800GT which should sit in between the 8600 and the 8800GTS

For a decent gaming rig you really wanna go with an 8800 or 2900
