Hello,

So I just built this based on the Boson 4.0 by Austin Evans:

Intel Pentium G4560
EVGA GTX 1050
MSI B250M PRO-VD
8GB Kingston HyperX Fury
120GB Kingston UV400
430W EVGA PSU
Thermaltake Versa H15

I have watched many videos and I thought I knew what I was doing but apparently not. When I turn it on, the light on the motherboard does not light up along with any of the fans. My monitor says I have no connection. Thanks.

Solution

There's a lot of places to start.

If the PSU has a switch on the back, make sure it is switched on. You should see a LED lit up on the MoBo (if it has one) to indicated it has standby power.

You could have a bad PSU, or a bad component shorting out the power.

You could have a short between the motherboard and the case. Remove the board and make sure there is nothing underneath between it and the case except the standoffs. Make sure the screws holding it in place don't touch nearby "lines" (traces) on the motherboard.

Make sure the case wiring is plugged in to the motherboard properly. forgetting to connect the switch will cause it not to start, or reversing the reset and power buttons can have the same effect.

Make sure power cables are plugged in and fully seated.

Make sure the CPU cooler fan/s is/are plugged in properly.

Try verifying all that, and if still now power, disconnect every peripheral outside of the CPU fan, motherboard power, and the power switch and see if the fan(s) spin up. If that don't work, try it again without the case. pull the GPU card and RAM too.

if it works (fan spins up), plug one peripheral back in one at a time, starting with the RAM and after that the GPU card... if it stops after plugging something in, it probably is your culprit.

Let us know what you find out from all of this.

Solution
shrapnel_indie thank you so much! I took the MOBO out of the case and realized that I switched the order of my Power LED +/- and my Power switch. It now works; I will run some tests to make sure there are no other problems.
