So I am building my first computer, and I am stuck on a PSU to get. I need it to run my graphics card without a problem. I have viewed this forum for quite some time, in reading people's suggestions. So now I'm stuck, so I decoded to join.

Here is my setup:

* Phanteks Enthoo Luxe ATX Full Tower (Purchased)

* GigaByte GA-Z97X-Gaming GT (Purchased)

* i7-4790K (Purchased)

* Radeon™ R9 295X2 Hydra Edition R9-295X-8QFA (Purchased)

* Crosair Vengeance 1600Mhz 32GB total (Suggested)

* PSU, I wanted to get a Super Flower Leadex Platinum 2000W, but can't find it for sale. Was going to go with a LEPA G1600-W GOLD.

I just want to make sure the PSU meet the requirements. The graphics requirements.

According to AMD this is the requirements for the card.

28 A of current to each of the 8-pin auxiliary power connectors on your graphics card

50 A of combined current to the pair of 8-pin auxiliary power connectors

Any help would be great.

Thanks
Nick

I will look into that krells. I feel 100watt+ is overkill, but the PDF AMD send me on the card I have. Suggested PSUs 1500w - 1600w as the minimum recommended PSU.

Here is a quote from it.

Check OutThese Power Supply Products
According to manufacturer product specifications, the following power supplies may meet the minimum power supply requirements for an AMD Radeon™ R9 295X2-based system:*
* Enermax MaxRevo EMR1500
* LEPA G-1600MA
* Silverstone Technology Strider ST1500
* Thermaltake TP-1500M

Just wondering why their recommended min, is set at 1500w to 1600w. That's why I was going to go with a 2000w PSU.

So krells you own a Radeon™ R9 295X2 Hydra Edition R9-295X-8QFA? How is the performance of the card? Would you recommend getting 2 of them (maybe in the distant future). If so, I would like to get a PSU that would be able to support 2 of them. I am going to be doing 3D rendering/Animation. 4K video editing as well. PC course gaming also.

Thanks for the help, was at work. So couldn't replay that much.

The performance is very good but I only used a 1440p monitor so I can't tell you first hand how well it performs playing games at 4k. I believe that is what it was designed for though so a single card should give very good performance in most games at 4k. A pair of 295's would be tempting at their new price but from what I have seen not every game is going to scale across 4 gpu's. In some cases the second card will do nothing.

faxfan well I plan on getting 2 of the 295x2 cards at some point in time. So would like to get a PSU that I won't need to upgrade when I do. Looking really close at the LEPA 1600. I know newegg has 2 of them running using the Hercules 1600. Contacted AMD again, to see if they can recommend a PSU that will efficiently support 2 of the cards.

Also was looking into purchasing the RDT's EKWB R9 295x2 Water-block for the card as well. Has anyone had experience with this water-block. It replaces the stock pumps and fan with a clean slim sexy water-block.

Here is some images of the water-block installed, I think it looks so sexy, and also looks like it will help remove the heat better from the card than using the fan and closed cooling system it has.

Thank you " Link from the future".

I decided to purchase the G.Skill Trident X series. 2400mhz 32GB GTX. It has been confirmed to work in all the dimms of my motherboard by gigabyte. Plus got it for $225, with shipping included which is not bad at all.

Well the GeForce GTX TITAN X does not justify twice the price of what I paid for the 295x2. As well the TITAN Z and 295x2 is pretty much neck and neck.

Right, I don't think I would be doing much 4K gaming, as I only have a 1080p monitor (even though 295x2 can run Crysis 3 ultra settings in 4k). Was thinking about getting a 1440hz 1ms monitor, but as far as 4K idk yet. Will be doing 4K video editing though. That's why I believe that the 295x2 will fit my budget well into the future. Now if the Titan X was the same price as my 295x2, then I would of picked that. I just don't believe paying twice the price, just for a bit higher specs is justified.
