This is the first draft of my second build and I was looking for advice on the parts that I have chosen:
  1. Case = Lian-Li - PC-O11 Dynamic (White) ATX Full Tower Case
  2. GPU = Asus - GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 11 GB STRIX GAMING Video Card
  3. Motherboard = Asus - ROG STRIX Z390-E GAMING ATX LGA1151
  4. SSD = Samsung - 970 Evo 2 TB M.2-2280
  5. Cooler = NZXT - Kraken X62 Rev 2 98.17 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler
  6. CPU = Intel - Core i7-8700K 3.7 GHz 6-Core Processor
  7. Monitor = ASUS ROG PG279Q 27" Gaming Monitor WQHD 1440p IPS 165Hz DisplayPort Adjustable Ergonomic EyeCare G-SYNC -or- Acer Predator XB271HU bmiprz 27" WQHD (2560x1440) NVIDIA G-SYNC IPS Monitor, (Display Port & HDMI Port, 144Hz

*how do I know if the motherboard has wifi built in?
*does anyone recommend the Lian-Li over any other cases? I've heard a lot of positives, and a handful of negatives about it.
*I want to optimize for 144hz. Not sure if I would have to overclock to get near that.
*The games I want to play as of this post are: Let it Die, Mortal Kombat 11, Tekken 7, and Sekiro.
*I want a beautiful interior, but i'm not sure how to accommodate both functionality w/ aesthetics and it isn't my #1 priority.

Budget is not an issue.
I'm not sure if I need a 2080 ti or an i9 processor, but I don't have a problem getting them if I have to.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.

for 1440p you definitely don't need the top end stuff like a 2080 ti or 9900k. 1080 TI will do great, and if youre JUST gaming, I would recommend a 9600k since its basically just a non-hyperthreaded 8700k for 100 bucks cheaper.
-Motherboard will say in its features list if it has wifi or not.
-I run at 144 HZ 1080p personally and have no problems going over 144 fps on most games except like Anthem with an rx 580 8gb so a 1080 TI should be able to handle it fine, might need a slight overclock but not too much I would think.

I only want a 2080 TI and an I9 if they are necessary. Otherwise, I was going to save those for my 3rd build. I plan on putting all these machines together myself, and i'm trying to leave room for error. Just in case I do something wrong, I don't want it to be a more expensive mistake than it had to be. In your opinion would those 2 parts be necessary to get what I want?

For that 3440x1440 120hz LG Gsync display I chose, the 2080ti is recommended.

For the games you mentioned, the 8700k is more than enough for 120+ fps when overclocked to 5.0ghz. So my cpu/gpu recommendation remains the same.

A little more about the build :
Rams, gpu, mobo and case fans are gigabyte rgb fusion compatible and addressable. The cpu cooler and it's fans I think is also rgb fusion compatible. So all the component lighting can be synced.

About the cooler and the case fans :

Two case fans at the bottom as intakes, cpu cooler in the side, both case fans at the top as intakes or keep the fan at the top of the mobo vrm area(provides some active cooling for the mobo vrm, less thermal throttling when oc) as intake and the other one as exhaust. You have to check that out by yourself.

You might also need this for its USB hub and headset stand for your peripherals https://www.amazon.com/Razer-Base-S...headset+stand&qid=1554349714&s=gateway&sr=8-3

And, if you want speakers (monitor doesn't come with inbuilt ones) I would suggest these : https://pcpartpicker.com/product/PK...lasterx-katana-0w-21ch-speakers-51mf8245aa000

Or these for a complete razer setup : https://www.amazon.com/RAZER-NOMMO-CHROMA-Fiberglass-Rear-Facing-x/dp/B078H1T9YD

I love how much detail you put into everything. I will definitely have to keep this list in mind as I start buying parts and putting them together. This is only the first draft so after I make revisions i'll be sure to come back with more questions.

^ sure thing. Happy to help!

Also, many pc o11 owners suggested this fan setup : top intakes, bottom intakes and side exhaust. You might wanna give that a try.
Do you know of another good motherboard that lights up BUT uses pcie instead of sata? Or is the one you've chosen the best one you'd recommend?
Also, my current PC only has an i5. Do you think I should just spend the extra $155 for the i9 anyway? If I already had an i7-8700k I was just stick with it for longer, but since i'm upgrading anyway do u think I should just go the extra mile?

If u r gonna stream with obs and also use teamspeak apps like discord etc (multitasking and gaming basically), then going for 9900k makes sense. otherwise, the 8700k is just fine.

my motherboard choice was the best considering rgb compatibility and vrm/oc potential. gigabyte z390 ultra or master are the model i would recommend.

BTW, when r u getting your build? can u postpone your cpu/mobo purchase to june/july? you can buy the other parts, just delay the cpu/mobo.
the ryzen 3000 series and x570 mobo with pcie 4.0 are gonna be announced at computex 2019 in may. the 2700X sucessor was already demoed going head to head with 9900k while using 30% less power. and knowing AMD, their 2700X sucessor would be 350 bucks max and not 550 like the 9900k.

I appreciate the advice. Any idea of the cpu, gpu or motherboard will drop in price after Computex 2019?

With the current crop of rumors, the Navi gpu which will launch this year is gonna be the replacement for the mainstream amd gpu like the rx580/rx 590.

Maybe you can expect a 1660ti competition in the sub 300 price point from amd, maybe. So I don't think the 2080ti will have any price drops this year.

Regarding the 9900k, that might be a possibility. But Intel has never lowered prices till now cuz there was no reason to until now. The same goes for Intel's z390.

What do you think about this motherboard for my build? I really like this one, its PCIE like I want, BUT i'm wondering if it can see 5G networks and/or handle 144hz.
https://www.amazon.com/ASRock-Intel...k+Z370+Taichi&qid=1555893541&s=gateway&sr=8-1

If you switch to the asrock taichi, ur gpu won't be in sync with the ram/fan/mobo lighting. Asrock doesn't have a 2080ti card to sync all lighting/aorus extreme or any other card will have addressable rgb, but you can't sync with asrock polychrome rgb.

Try to get the z390 version. It got better power phase designs, generally more headers and connectivity with better mobo design.

I don't understand what u mean by "its PCIE like I want", for which component are you talking about? "Do you know of another good motherboard that lights up BUT uses pcie instead of sata?" are you by chance mixing molex with sata? Even then, it depends on the led strips/hubs/controllers you buy. Buy the version that's powered by sata. But all the addressable rgb ones now in the market use sata power, no molex. And all the mobo lighting is powered by the 24 pin eps cable. Not sata.

The aorus z390 master has this wifi inbuilt : Intel CNVi 802.11ac 2x2 Wave 2 WIFI & BT 5, the 802.11 ac ones picks up 5ghz bands along with 2.4ghz

IMHO, the taichi z370 will have less overclocking potential when compared to aorus z390 master.

If you can run the 8700k/9900k at 5.0ghz in either of these boards, no need to worry about 144hz. But like I said, I kinda feel 5.0ghz in a 9900k in the z370 taichi is difficult.
