Looks like AMD has a winner when it comes to performance. Now let's just hope that the 290x tops the Titan, that the 290 tops the 780, and that each is priced better than Nvida's competing card. Throw in the Never Settle Forever Gold bundle and AMD is going to have some serious gaming value with the 290 and 290x.

"There’s not much more I can say at this point, except that I have several cards tested at 3840x2160, and R9 290X doesn’t just do well against the GeForce GTX 780…"

huh? It seems from the numbers you just put up that the R9 290X does very well against the GTX780. I'm confused. the words and the graphs seems to be contradicting each other.

He's suggesting that it beats the Titan as well.

It probably also does well compared to the Titan. I think that's what he's gettin' at.

For all that are saying AMD has a winner and nVidia better do something - isn't it AMD that needs to do something? And isn't it too little too late? Hate to say it, but nVidia is sitting pretty.

@dgingeri

Is English not your first language? I would understand if that's why you dont' get what he's saying.

He's saying. "It doesn't just do well against the GTX 780, but it also does well against (insert card here)". He may be hinting that it doesn't JUST beat the 780, but it also beats or equals the Titan.

Get it now? It's your reading comprehension in this case...he doesn't contradict himself at all.

Not a Titan killer, but definitely a match it seems. Please price it well AMD (and it looks like the 290 will match the 780 well, which I hope will be $499).

Bad reading comprehension, indeed. In any case, according to leaked benchmarks the R9-290X trades blows with the Titan putting it in the same performance category.

AMD its forcing nVidia to drop prices, that aint ''sitting pretty'' lol. if the 290x does well against titan.. whats the point of buying a 1k $ card when a prob 600$ card can match it and prob beat it?. bring up the ''maxxwell'' thing and so does amd has volcanic island for next year as far as i know not sure. just my opinion :)

I doubt Nvidia is phased by this. They have had the Titan out for 6 months and most likely had the 780 prepared and ready for release at the same time as Titan's release. But AMD posed no threat so they released it with the 700 series, and milked the Titan for as long as they could. They will more than likely release a new card possibly the Titan ultra which will push the price down of existing Nvidia cards down into a competitive price range. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Titan at around $700, 780 around $500, 770 at $300, and the 760 at $225. Titan ultra will reclaim the $900 price point and possibly a 770ti will fill the $400 gap.

Ever since I stated hearing about this card, I had a feeling it would be someting special. With the performance and projected price, it may become the gotta have card. I haven't run an AMD card since the 5770, which I liked. I think I see one of these babies in my future and I am running a GTX 680 at the moment.

Think of it as a turn based game. Sure, AMD took a long time to make their move, but they finally did and now nVidia has to do something about it, after all, the consumers will buy anything that matches their budget at a given time and currently, AMD has the lead in almost every price range.

@michael908 ill be glad to see something like that. a new titan so they get another reason to lower those crazy prices.. ill prob gonna be changing my cross 7970 ghz for 2 290x. just to test on my own how it does againts my sli titan system lol

"huh? It seems from the numbers you just put up that the R9 290X does very well against the GTX780. I'm confused. the words and the graphs seems to be contradicting each other."

uh...he means not only does the 290x do well against the 780, but also other cards(titan).
