Just to help with my first overclock

System:

Intel core I7 3770k
Asus p8z77 v-deluxe
Palit 660 Ti jetstream
16gb (4x4) kingston hyperX blu ram (1333Mhz)
Samsung 240 (250gb) SSD
WD Green 2TB HDD
Corsair CX 600 watt PSU

The CPU cooler is a Noctua nh-u12p with a push/pull fan configuration.

I did my first overclock to 4.4GHz with a CPU voltage of 1.185V

I ran multiple stress tests at the same time to see how much strain it handles

Intel burn v2 (extreme)
prime 95 (maximum heat)
Furkmark (burn in benchmark)

the gpu stress test was to raise the temp in the case and signify a gaming session

After 30 mins the maximum temp was 90 degrees and hovered there. Is this a safe overclock?

Hi and welcome to the forums :)

Your temps are too high.
Also you don't need to put your CPU under that much stress, either P95 or IBT are fine on their own, no need to run both at the same time. In real world usage your CPU won't be under anywhere near the stresses that P95 or IBT put your CPU under.

Just run one stress test program and report back with the temps, if they are still too high then you may need to reduce the overclock/voltage.

Im running Prime95 at the maximum heat and its staying from 70-80 degrees through the cores (after an hour)

Ok that's much better, and those temps are ok for stress testing, in real world usage your temps will be a fair bit lower.

Is there a reason why core 0 is 8degrees cooler than the rest?

I'm not quite sure of the reason (perhaps thermal paste / heatsink placement) but it is quite normal to have a fairly large variations in temps like that, I've also got 1 core that is 9C cooler than the rest, if you search online you'll no doubt find other people you have noticed the same thing.
