mattidallama and I just completed our first run with DICE. We used his old Intel e5200 and MSI P43-Neo3-F 1.1. We got it to 4.3GHz at like 1.55v, but the board wouldn't boot above 343MHz FSB, no matter how cold it was (chunks of DICE sitting on top of it) or how much voltage we gave it (1.7v).
The run started out horribly. We had gotten the DICE from Publix and some pizza beforehand and were all set, but then, upon turning on the computer and booting Windows, it bitched about needing to be activated. :O So, 10 minutes later, I finally got off the phone and we could start benching. We started off with a crappy PSU just to make sure the condensation wouldn't do anything to the plug, which was really really close to the edge of the butterfly (the cooler we used, a ZEROtherm BTF-95). And we had to use a stick of Matt's good RAM, as we either had DDR2-400, DDR2-800, or DDR2-1066, and the 400 wouldn't give us any kind of good FSB. So we started with the 800, and worked our way up to the 1066 when we realized that the mobo LIED when it said it was setting it to 800 (usually set it anywhere between 1050 and 1200!!).
Anyways, the pics will start here. I've resized them all to 800x600, and they are pretty small file sizes, so you guys shouldn't have to worry about load times. And some of the pictures are fuzzy, but I was taking them from my Droid, so bear with me!
This is the board after we finished insulating it. Used roughly 3 moldable erasers.
Here, we're getting ready to start with the DICE. I know, we're ghetto!
This one's a bit dark, but you can still see what's going on. We put DICE on top of the NB (froze it solid) and DICE up under the butterfly, right on the heatpipes, and on the top so that the cold would flow out over the fins (if any heat could manage to get up those pipes!).
Here's a better pic. The butterfly is beginning to ice over.
We found the vCore limit for the board is actually 2.1v, so we went ahead and set it to 1.8 and let her rip!
A blast shield, lol. The DICE was making all kinds of weird noises when it touched the metal, so we didn't know what was gonna happen.
DICE infused Mountain Dew is a bad choice, Matt!
The butterfly is really starting to freeze now. Core temps are somewhere around -8C.
Another dark one. We put a huge chunk of DICE directly on the bottom now. Temps started dropping, hitting around -20.
The northbridge ATE UP some DICE. It went through it about twice as fast as the CPU did.
