Let me start by saying I recently purchased all the necessary parts to build my first rig. I got a decent deal on newegg for all the components and began putting it together.

GIGABYTE GA-Z77-DS3H LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Intel Core i5-2500K Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz (3.7GHz Turbo Boost) LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 3000 BX80623I52500K

EVGA SuperClocked 02G-P4-2662-KR GeForce GTX 660 2GB 192-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video

Rosewill Stallion Series RD500-2DB 500W ATX12V Power Supply

I watched several videos on how to install just the CPU/HSF, PSU, RAM, and video card, and plugged away.

I had CPU/PSU/RAM/Video card installed and used a metal screwdriver to short the two power pins and instantly my PSU fan turned on, as did my HSF and VIdeo card fan.

However, When I turn the monitor on it says No VGA signal. Next I removed the video card to see if that would help get a monitor signal. I try to boot and all fans start up and the monitor displays "Reboot and select proper boot device..." I obviously have no OS installed yet, nor do I even have a hard drive attached. It would also be important for me to mention that I'm unsure if my MOBO has an internal speaker or not, and I do not own a case speaker so I am unsure if I am getting any POST beep error messages

I clearly am not quite experienced enough to understand what is going on and would appreciate any troubleshooting.

I actually went down and found a case speaker from another computer. I am receiving a single POST beep with CPU/HSF, PSU, Video card and 2 Sticks of ram, however I still have no display.

ill start off by asking the basics, did you install the spacers/ standoffs for the motherboard (usually if you havent it will be completely non responsive so i doubt that you didnt, ) ..
did you connect the power supply to the video card, ?

Embarrasingly enough im not entirely sure what standoffs are. And yes, the psu is plugged into the video card.

@deemo, yes without the card it appears the inboard graphics proxessor works as my monitor comes to life and displays the "reboot and select proper boot device."

With the card in, however i still get post beep but monitor stays on standby, so i usually hit the monitor pw button and it says "no vga signal" and goes to sleep

just did a bit of research on your card, requires a minimum of 450w power supply, it possible your current 500w does not provide enough total power for your system...

used to be some tool hosted that would let you know how many watts (pretty accurate) to run your system safely, since each bit of hardware adds to the total requirement
