Hello, so I'm currently building my first computer. What I currently have is:
- Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3
- AMD FX 8350
- Corsair CX600W
- EVGA GeForce GTX 750Ti
- Gskill 4GB x2
- Kingston SSD 120GB
- NZXT Guardian 921 Tower
- Razer Blackwidow Keyboard
- Elektrik City mouse
When I first got this, I put all the components together in the case. When I pushed the power button, it went to the motherboard splash screen with BIOS/FLASH (F2?) and BOOT (F12?) and a couple other options. When I tried to push one of the buttons, nothing happened. I searched around and tried to reset the BIOS by taking out the CMOS battery out for about 10 minutes. I put it back in and got the same result. I took out the RAM and left one stick in the furthest slot and I got a blackscreen. I then tried the other RAM stick and got to the same motherboard splash screen.
Then I took everything out of the case and I put the motherboard on the box it came in used only the CPU and stock cooler it came with and the PSU into the motherboard to see if the main components were working. I used a flathead screwdriver to short the power on the motherboard, and the cpu fan and psu fan spun for about a second or less and then stopped moving.
I tested the PSU using this video and it seems the PSU is fine. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5FWXgQSokF4
I don't really know what to do now to check if its the CPU or the motherboard. Any help or suggestions on what I should do?
*Update*
So I got the case fans, cpu fan, and graphics card fan all working. I put it all back into the case with all the 9 standoffs. I started it back up and with only the PSU going to an outlet and a monitor. I see "BIOS has been reset - please decide how to continue.
1) Load optimized defaults then boot
2) Load optimized defaults then reboot
3) Enter BIOS"
I plug in my mouse and I'm unable to select an option. I unplugged the tower from the outlet and waited 30 seconds and left the USB in the tower while starting it and I got a black screen. I tried plugging in my keyboard while it was on and off and both resulted in either BIOS has been reset or the motherboard splash screen.
