First time builder so I want to make sure that I'm not doing anything stupid, everything works together and of course any suggestions are more than welcome. Purpose of the rig will be my daily primary computer (normal stuff web browsing etc), HD playback, needs to handle photo and some video editing and some gaming but mostly things like Civ. I would like to shave a couple hundred dollars off if I can but I can make it work as is.

CPU: Intel Core i7-2600K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor

CPU Cooler: Zalman CNPS10X QUIET Ball Bearing CPU Cooler

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD4-B3 ATX LGA1155

Memory: Kingston HyperX 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory

Hard Drive: -Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
-A-Data S511 Series 120GB 2.5" Solid State Disk (for OS and Programs)

Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 460 1GB Video Card (2-Way SLI)

Case: Corsair 650D ATX Mid Tower Case

Power Supply: Corsair 850W ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply

I appreciate the help.

Get the i5-2500k, ther is no real reason for the i7.

460 is such a weak card, you'd be better off getting a single more powerful GPU. Power supply can go down to 750 watts if you do plan on SLI. There is no real reason for 850watts.

Your build there looks good though I would drop your CPU to an i5-2500 or i5-2500k (the K series only if you plan on overclocking) and you will probably get a better graphics return from a single more powerful card, I would suggest the 560Ti http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130610.

Good thing about a single, more powerful, card is that you can drop your PSU down to 750W or probably even 650W, still have plenty of overhead, and drop your price a few more bucks.

As you want to shave off a few hunderd, I'll agree withthe others and suggest that you go with the i5 2500K. For less intense gaming you don't need the dual GTX460. If you want to save on a GPU and want Nvidia, then I'd recommend a single GTX 480 or a GTX 570. All of these cards can run Civ on max settings, and you will have no issues with SLI. The GTX 480 may be a little older, but it competes with the GTX 570 and can be bought for under $300. The GTX 570s can be bought for under $330.

AMD alternatives are the 6950 and 6970.

You could consider the Corsair 600T series to save $30.

If you add the savings $90 on CPU, $80 on GPU (if you go with GTX 480) and $30 on case.

And if you go with this all you need is the Corsair 650 TX which will save another $50.

My budget is about $1500 but for example I would not want to spend less on say a graphics card just to meet that and then have to replace it in a year. So I'm pretty close on the budget but if something is unnecessary I would be like to cut it.

I will mostly be playing at 1920 but would maybe playing games like Civ at 2560 which I know is not as graphic intensive (relatively speaking). Also I will be playing high def movies on the larger display though I understand that is a more simple re-size.
