lmao I think u guys are straying from my problems!! :)

anyway, I took everything out, separated all the parts, and did the entire reinstall all over again, including reapplying thermal grease hah... still nothing, turns on and off over and over...

I guess I'll try to RMA... Newegg won't let me change motherboards though (i don't think). I'm pretty sure they won't let me change the motherboard model, only give me an exchange (unless I take the 15% restocking fee hit)...

As far as asus mobo's, what's with the vdroop problems? That's the main reason I ended up going for the gigabyte board. Also this board was 200 dollars that I bought, so assuming they allow me to exchange for something similarly priced, are the low end Asus X38 boards good?? I think there's one for 229.99 USD

Thanks!

Vdroop is a good thing, to a certain extent of course. The Vdroop will prevent the cpu voltage from spiking over the VID, which will make the cpu unstable. Although the ASUS has an option called the Load Line Calibration, which dampens the vdroop, Anandtech has observed a small increase in power intake and also concluded more strain on the motherboard.

Unless you need to run Crossfire, a P35 is more than you need.
