Fix for crashing ATI cards?

I have an ASUS 4870 Dark Knight and I am experiencing the same freeze issue that everyone else on the web seems to be experiencing. Removed the card, dropped in my 7800 GT and the drivers, no problems. I go back to ATI, install the drivers (even 9.12 from yesterday) and the same freezing issues. Upgraded my bios, turned off AA on all games, disabled Catalyst Control Center, checked my memory, removed a memory stick, tried with a different monitor, monitored the temp of the video card, tried an old version of ATI driver, turned off anti-virus and firewall, still crashed on any game. Any ideas or help would be great. No answers from ATI.

Full system specs including power supply?

I have had both a 4870 and 5870 without issues. Even funnier is that I got the 4870 because it took Nvidia over a year to get good vista drivers out.

Did you use a driver cleaner to make sure all the Nvidia drivers are gone before running the ATI ones?

How are the temps?
Is it possible that Asus sets the fan too slow and it crashes?

Thank you! The driversweeper did the trick. I had to run it multiple times and do multiple restarts, but as of yesterday morning I am crash-free! Awesome job. Thanks!
