Hello, and thanks for taking the time to read my thread.

I am having a problem whenever I play a game lately, and was hoping someone may have an idea how to fix it, seen it before or even know what the problem is called so I can research it properly. The problem is that during game I get random flickering/flashing, usually black but occasionally white, lines at various angles.

I know there are other similar problems, so I've uploaded a video of this occuring so you can see exactly what is happening:

There are a few oddities with this, sometimes by holding the mouse/my field of view steady I can make the same lines/areas flicker repeatedly, whereas other times this doesn't happen and the lines continue to appear randomly. And I'm not sure why, but the white lines seems to be a lot rarer than the black lines.

I believe this problem is being caused by my graphics card, though if anyone knows better please correct me, and so I've tried a few basic steps: updating my graphics card drivers, making sure its refresh rate matches my monitor, but I've seen no improvement. I don't know much about ideal temperatures, but my CPU is maxing out at 50 degrees C and my graphics card tops out at 70 degrees.

Some extra specs incase they help at all:
Gfx card = Radeon HD 6770
OS = Windows7 64 Bit

If there are any more details I can give please let me know, and thanks a lot for taking the time to read my problem.

Hello and welcome to the forums :)

Do you know what power supply (make and model) your PC uses?

A few things I'd try would be:

1) Different monitor cable
2) Different output on the graphics card
3) Different monitor (or T.V)

If you still haven't found the route cause then try the card in another PC if possible.

Thanks for your message.

The PSU is an Alpine 700W, I'm not sure if you need me to be anymore precise than that but I'm not seeing much else on the box.

1.) Tried this as you suggested, didn't help though, problem was exactly the same.
3.) Same as above.

2.) By this do you mean using a DVI cable instead of a VGA? If so I'm afraid I don't have a DVI to try this.

I'm thinking that this can't be an issue with the monitor or its cable, since the fault shows up when I record my screen, which I wouldn't expect to happen if the issue were caused by the monitor/its cable. I may be wrong on that, but it's how it makes sense to me.

Unfortunately I don't have another PC to test the card in, the only other one I have is far too old to use it in (AGP, insufficient power supply etc.).

Thanks for your suggestions.

Quick update: a friend of mine suggested deliberately underclocking my graphics card to see if that had any effect, unfortunately this didn't fix the problem either.

However it's probably worth mentioning that my graphics card came overclocked from new, and that I haven't changed any of those settings myself.

Just wanted to put as much information out there as possible, thanks for reading.

Made a mistake in an earlier post, meant to say that my graphics card reaches temperatures of 80, not 70. But the fan still isn't spinning at 100% (automatically control), so I think that this must still be an ok temperature?

Just trying to narrow down the possibilities.
