Floppy "in-use" light

Hope this isn't to difficult. What would cause the in-use light on the floppy to stay on all the time? I just built the pc and when I power up, the light stays on. I checked my BIOS setup and the floppy is enabled and recognized as 1.44 meg. I have not yet installed any O/S. Presently, the only components in the case are the HD, floppy, video card, cpu, memory and CD rom. There are no connectors to the mobo for this light so I assume it is handled by the floppy itself. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Your cable is backwards.
Make pin 1 point to the power plug.

In other words make sure the red line on the cable is twards the power connector.

Your cable is backward-the red stripe should be on the opposite side that it would be on the hard drive.

That's not always correct. A lot of floppy drives don't work like IDE drives (as far as connectors). I have a floppy that is back-asswards. =)

Well at least there are only 4 combinations to try.
Unless is matters which connectors on the cable u use. Dose it? I can't remember.

Yes. The flip in the cable can only be used one way. It cannot be used with both ends flipped like other cables.
