Remember, the 'founder' of the team isn't really that big of a deal. Your only job is to not disappear without handing over the reigns, and even if you don't do that it isn't a big deal. Think of it more as the UK royal family, not a president or Prime Min.

Edit: That sounds fine to me dogman. We can start a voting poll in our section...oh, wait

Agree with EXT, that seems the most logical and easiest to implement. Hopefully stanford will help us with this.

TheHomeGuy is good haserath.

Finally broke the mil mark. 1.8 months to next milestone.... Too long, will need to work on that.

I believe that it is either priyajeet or sjonnie, but I'm not sure which. priyajeet was certainly the first, but someone here said that it was handed over to sjonnie at some point.

Good luck. I signed up there to do the same thing a few days ago but can't PM anyone because my account is too new 🙁

Lets see, instead of co-founders we could call them the committee and rather than Prime-founder the person assuming the role of founder/contact person can be the Chairman. Anyway, the Hoi polloi selects the committee and the committee selects its own Chairman from within its own ranks, this is why there should always be an odd number.

The Chairman/Prime-founder is NOT selected by the Hoi polloi but from within the committee of co-founders by that committee and by whatever method the majority of that committee can agree on. Please only select committee members that you would be happy with as Chairman.

The committee is responsible for making sure its members are all currently active members of the Hoi polloi. If a committee member becomes inactive them the committee should ask the Hoi polloi for a new committee member, making sure to maintain the committee at an odd number. Remember, the Chairman must be a committee member and the committee are all members of the Hoi polloi.

It's really not all that big a deal, it's not like we are trusting this person with money or something like that. This is just some way of preventing our founder from leaving us in the lurch again. We are replacing a king with a committee but others require a single point of contact. Thus a psudo-person and a psudo-identity that can be filled by an available person for reasons of contact with Toms or any other entity that feels like they are too good to just come into the forum and discuss whatever needs discussing.

If, at a later date, it is felt that stricter regulations are needed then we can deal with it thru this fundamental governing body. We can make rules more strict, require qualifications, etc. depending on committee recommendations to the Hoi polloi. I don't feel we need any of this stuff at this time because only a small number of the Hoi polloi actually participate in the forum anyway so a majority is unlikely.

Just put some names up for committee membership and agree on an odd number of members. Just agree or you can put up a poll for voting if enough complain about the simpler method. Pick the 3 or 5, or whatever, with the most votes. I have no idea how you would control who votes in that or who would administer it.

Well, While I could become a leader if need be, I'm really not a leader type of person......

Yes I do like helping other (due to my Boy Scout background/nature or however you like to call it) but i prefer to let someone take the reigns on things.

And as someone else said, with me being in HH still (got one more year left) and will have to go to college eventually after that, im not really sure if i need the extra workload for now.

Although if the team does need a temporary leader, I'll fill in till someone more permanent than I to fill in the spot.

I actually got involved in January or so but I had to give up my ISP (Comcast) due to financial considerations at the time so I was using my neighbors Wireless-G (with their permission of course :) )
so now I am back on a cable modem and just started folding again last night
put up a big 1835 points last night LOL
hmm I thinking folding at home is a good excuse to sell my PHII 965 BE 4ghz HD 5770 rig
I am hopefully getting a HD 6870 soon (about 2-3 weeks)
sell my rig and go with a 2500K/HD 6870 rig
also going to build a HTPC/Folding rig soon and have folding 24/7
doing on no budget so only will be a Athlon64 x 2 3ghz/8400GS but hey even little points add up over time and every bit helps

jpishgar has stated intrest in bringint the F@H 40051 team page to the forums .
But I have a few reservations about this.
First it would have to be Ad free or only ads for F@H. which is why I posted earlier about hosting it on my account at Pair networks. That way the team would have control over content.
I can set up the account with whatever url we choose and give access to whoever the team decides. I can also get my niece and her husband to design the site and post it for approval or if someone on the team can design it, that is OK also. We just have to decide as a team which way we would like to procede. And decide who would be responsible for updating the site.

Is there a way to post a private poll? That way only members of the team can vote.

I guess it boils down to becoming a TEAM instead of a bunch of random folders.

Thanks warmon. We'll see who we eventually select, but i wouldn't worry too much about being a 'leader'. I didn't even know they existed until this forum section thing came up. I consider it more an official point of contact. You, I think, are already a great Folding Community Reporter.

I've sent a PM to start the process on the official folding forums (fortunately I have been there long enough to PM). I'll let you know what I hear, but in the meantime we need to get this committee setup. Maybe bholland2 can get things going, it was his idea 😀

Rick, why is ad-free a necessity? Is it a requirement from F@H?

I like the idea of a five-member committee. I must say, whoever has the time and energy to get all of this set up and tally the votes gets my vote as chairman (not that it means much as a member of the 'Hoi polloi'.

My votes are as follows (in no particular order):
1. EXT64
2. warmon06
3. beanoslim
4. Mousemonkey
5. Haserath

Thank you for you guys' concerns. I am fine, at least for the time being.

What I want to say earlier is that between work and family, sleeping has become a luxury for me. Sorry for the confusion. I blame it on the lack of sleep. 😛

Like the list. I have to agree with you on the leader part. The Chair of 40051 must show commitment, volunteer time and energy, must be up to date with current folding trends and news, must be versed in...well, you get the picture.

Add me in there! 😛

Goodness, sounds like an ad for a full-time job :??:

Yes, and no.
i.e. Yes I know and you can NOT fold with it. 🙁

Press in dire situations. :fou:

All of the ideas here sound really good, great to see some progress & planning. I'd love to help get the ball rolling, just let me know what I need to do 😀

I've been thinking about all this and here's the conclusion I've come to. I am pretty much free for the rest of the summer, things will pick up towards the end of August and I won't have much time to fool with this forum after that, I'll sorta' return to my previous lurker status. Now, and for the rest of the summer I do have time and was kind of looking for something else to do.

So here's the deal: I can't be on the committee because of time restraints later on, but I do have time now to get things set up... Kinda' ideal it seems to me. I'll take control of this temporarily and get things going. I'll take votes on committee members and select a committee of 5, or 7 if there are enough votes. No more than 7 and no less than 3.

Nominations
You may submit the names of as many people as you want to run for a committee position.
You may nominate as many as you want in a single post. (please make it clear)
You may nominate yourself if you wish.
You may not withdraw a nomination.
Nominees must be active folders on Tom's Hardware folding@home team.
There is no minimum or maximum rate or total, just must be active to qualify for nomination.
If you see your name placed in nomination and do not wish to run just post a "decline" notice and I will remove your name. No reason is necessary.
Nominations begin immediately.
Nominations will close at midnight on Tuesday June 12, 2012.
Late nominations will not be accepted.
Because of the International nature of this, time and date of the nomination will be determined by the post header so get those nominations in early.

I will post a list of eligible nominees on Wednesday June 13, 2012
You may not vote before I post the list.
Any early votes will not be counted.

Voting
This will NOT be a secret ballot election.
You may vote for up to 5 nominees you wish to see on the committee by simply posting your list.
You don't have to vote for 5, just a max of 5.
Posters voting for more than 5 will have their votes disqualified. (if you can't count to 5 you are too dumb to vote anyway)
You may only vote once so be sure to put all your choices in one post.
If you post votes multiple times either you will be disqualified or only the last post will count so be sure to get it right the first time. (I'll probably just throw your votes out)
Voting will close at midnight Friday June 15, 2012.
You will have some of Wednesday and all day Thursday and Friday to vote.
Once again, because of the international nature of this, time and date will be determined by the post header.

The committee members will be announced on or before Sunday June 17, 2012

I will be the final arbiter of any and all disagreements or disputes. You may open a challenge and state your case. I will try to be reasonable but remember, my word is final because I have a schedule to keep. We can't drag this out forever.

Your participation in the nomination process, voting, or of folding as a member of Tom's folding team is acceptance of these rules.

I will post a resignation of my position as Absolute Dictator of the selection process on or before Monday June 18, 2012 at which time I will have completed my charge and the elected committee will commence it's duties.

I am open to any reasonable suggestions.

Anyone who is unhappy with this or who feels they have a better idea may post their complaints and I will resign immediately making this baby your problem.
