Guys i need help.. i like gaming but i also do rendering work like ( blender 3d, 3d max, after effect , cinema 4d and other )

I'm really interested with the r9 280x.. can it render as well as the GTX 960?

or r9 280x is just gaming all the way?

i do 40% rendering and 60% gaming

i also heard that r9 280x runs very hot... and when rendering usually it takes more then 12 hour. will the heat effect on the other pc component? do I need to water cool it or maybe add more fan?

Depends on the cooling of your setup. Would have at least 2 intake in front and 2 exhaust (1 top 1 back). If your case does not support 4 fans in that configuration with 120 or 140mm (or larger) fans then the case was never designed for that kind of cooling and needs upgraded.

Should i get the 2GB or the 4 GB? Is the 4GB worth the money? does it have a big differences? do future gaming really require that 4GB gpu??

Future gaming and current games like ac unity, batman arkham knight, star citizen and many more need 4gb vram. I made the mistake and took the 2gb edition and i cant return it.. Dont listen to those who say 128bit cant utilize 4gb it can and it needs them and for the future

I agree with you, 2GB just isn't cutting the mustard these days.

If I were you (Aditya_2), I would go with the GTX 960 (4GB version) as, although it's pricier than the GTX 960 2GB version, it also cheaper than the GTX 970 while also reliable, cooler, has a lower TDP, and has the increased 4GB.
It is just more expensive, but, like I said, cheaper.

I'm really tight on a budget, adding to buy the 4gb version is kinda hard.

Right now I'm aiming to buy the Asus GTX 960 STRIX - 128Bit, 2GBDDR5 ... I could buy the 4GB but i dont really like the brand. If i have to get the 4 GB i would have to go with iGame nVidia GTX 960 4GB DDR5 U-4GD5 BA1

so should i buy the 4GB with iGame nVidia GTX 960 4GB DDR5 U-4GD5 BA1 , or i should buy the nicer brand but it's 2 GB version (Asus GTX 960 STRIX - 128Bit, 2GBDDR5)

I would still go with the 4GB. Why don't you just get the EVGA GTX 960 4GB?

WOW, a 960 over a 280X... 280X is much better than the 960. 280X temps are not even that crazy, titans or 780s get over 70 degrees. You should have good amout of fans to exhaust heat and bring in cool air. 280X will be better performance, 960 is good but compared to a 280X it is not.

Well, very slightly BUT no physX no MFAA,no low temps,no cuda,no energy efficiency,no good drivers, not good at rendering, no OC,no v-sync, no g-sync, no shield game streaming, no shadow play, no less annual energy cost so yeah better nvidia

had both cards. got the 280x (sapphire) first but it's too F'n hot. running a zotac gtx960. fan only turns up when underload.

mind you the gtx960 will offer smoother gameplay due to adaptive vsync in driver(a feature that gets overlooked a lot). for example, ac4 black flag was unplayable with my 280x due to massive screen tearing. radeonpro is a hit or miss but it was not working properly with ac4. AVERAGE FPS is not everything. the 280x won't have freesync in case you're planning to grab a new panel.

the 280x pulls almost twice the power of 960 too.

Might as well go for 380 anyway, 960 aint even that spectacular, some are dissing 280x ok... well 280x i can say is slighly old school but it has higher performance. temps.... well if so scared of temps go for r9 380, it is improved an r9 285 i guess, does perform well and cool. If the 380 is cheaper than 960 well go for 380, if not then go for 960.

Ok so between r9 380 and gtx 960, aim for the 4gb vram and get which ever is cheaper in the shop/online retail you want to buy from. Both good, but i feel 380 performs slightly above the 960.

The list you gave doesnt escalate 960 being better. Temps are calm with the 380. Power consumption difference is a joke seriously, the bills wont even rise. No Physx and MFAA.. oh well the gpu still well for the job. Rendering... how on earth can 380 not be good at rendering and 960 is.... that would be pretty silly for AMD to do after all their previous works with fine rendering skill. v sync..? of course the 380 has v sync. no shield or shadow play i dont think thats really a problem when there are other alternative out there anyway, e.g. amd gaming evolved or OBS.

Even your chart says (which I believe is reliable);
faster multirendering, better value and lower price and better lighting effects and reflections than 280x. The only thing that matters for what he does and 280x is better at is better texture detail. So gtx 960 is better value for money. He would pay 100$ more for small differences. Now if he could pay these extra $ it's a different conversation in which we sould replace gtx 960 with 970
