Here are some screenshots of an upcoming release from FranceVFR and
FlightScenery. The author from FlightScenery is just about to release my
local major airport KPVD so I'm watching all his posts. These were
announced on Avsim. I have a freeware scenery from him for LFRD and the
Dinard St. Malo surrounding area and it is brilliant, actually revolutionary
(Avsim lfrd2004-v1a.zip) . Incredible detail with minimal frame rate impact
considering the detail. So anyway, something to watch for those globe
trotting or based (virtually) in France. Be advised, I needed to force many
of them to show (right click, show picture) becase initially I received the
dreaded red X. But worth the look.

Nice screenshots. Looks like the terrain mesh is at a nice, high
resolution, too.

not bad ... but tbh I have seen better (VFR USA or Switzerland Pro -
to name some) - you can clearly see the boundaries between the photos
- best visible in the ocean! also, the colors are unrealistic, same
thing as with UK VFR ...

Agree Cole, but considering that these are pre-alpha.....not to mention my
bias just becase of what I have seen at LFRD and the beta shots of KPVD from
www.flightscenery.com I think the work is fantastic. The overhead is very
low for systems like mine with an older vid card. Not to mention, you'll be
hard pressed to make France look this good with VFR USA....hehe.

I think it looks GREAT and encourges others to advanced scenery
products. The water has some `block' effects. All those previews took
a long time to load... even with broadband.

I agree. It's fantastic work.
The was slow though. Only got 35-40k/s coming through.
