For What are intel atom cpus made for?

Hi,
My question is what is use of intel atom processors?I own a laptop with one and struggled with all of the programs i use( mostly games).And when i use google chrome,it is pretty slow.So what are they made for?

They are made to be cheap and use low wattage.

That is quite literally their only purposes.

Having said that Qualcomm cpu's are much more energy efficient and are why they are found in most high end phones; Iphone, Samsung s8 ...

Not every computer is intended to be used for demanding task such as gaming, video editing, and other things of that nature. Some people just want a cheap, basic computer for simple tasks they have. That's what low power CPUs are for. You get what you pay for, you want something cheap it ain't going to be fast.

Basic tasks, that people don't mind waiting for, or systems that dont have much interaction like NAS's or Point of Sale systems.

I have one in my Asus Transformer.
Yes, it is pretty slow.
But good enough for a box to manage my NAS with, or a small travel device, or to interface with the OBDII port on my truck.
It is not and never was meant to be a games machine.
But that's one of the tradeoffs you make when you buy a $175 laptop that also turns into a tablet.

What does it really shine at? 10+ hours of runtime.

The one in my Surface 3 is good enough for basic stuff.
