Im getting a new GPU soon ,and my friend said that before installing it i should reformat my computer because it can affect your computer. ... is this true ? should i actually reformat ?

No, that is absolutely not necessary.

Your friend is wrong changing a gpu wont effect your pc what so ever, just go on to the websit amd or nvidia and download the latest drivers
