Hello, I love racing games so I thought let's try out Forza Horizon 4. I looked up the minimum and recommended requirements and my pc was better than the minimum, So I downloaded the demo to try out the game. But when I played it the game lagged like crazy on the recommended (auto) settings. So I turned them all the way down to very low and it still lagged. Does anyone know what the problem is? or does anyone have a sollution?

Also on Game-Debate it says that I can easily run the game at medium settings.

SPECS:
CPU: i7-7700HQ
GPU: GeForce GTX 1050 2GB
RAM: 1x 8 GB
SSD: 120 GB
HDD: 1 TB

Solution
So I tried to look at the power modes but both were on performance. I downloaded the newest drivers, but it still didn’t change.
Maybe you’re right and it’s the RAM... but I don’t immediately want to buy new RAM... only when I know for sure that that’s causing the issue. Is there a way to check if that’s the problem?
And if I have to buy new RAM it has to be the same MHz right? So how do I find the same RAM stick that’s now in my laptop?

its highly unlike thats its a temperature issue but you can use msi afterburner to check temps while in game, how long have you used this laptop? did it have these problems before? if its brand new it could be that you are using your iGPU instead of the dedicated GPU, now i dont know how to...
Weird thing is I get lags like crazy on forza motorsport 7 which is a year older and has less requirements but forza horizon 4 runs perfectly at 60 fps for me with almost everything maxed out at 1080p. You should be able to run it fine tbh. My gpu is only a gtx 970
See that’s what I mean.... I see these video’s on YT of people with lower specs running the game on max settings... but my laptop can’t run it on very low....
Do you game on a PC or laptop? And what’s your ram?

A pc and the ram is called:
Kingston HyperX FURY 16GB (2x 8GB) DDR4 2400MHz Memory Black

Though when I first had the game i only had 12gb of ram

Oh okay... that’s exactly the ram I wanna buy but then for a laptop... you can see the link I send of the ram if you scroll a bit back....

I tried the benchmarking option in FH4 and it ran better than the game itself which I find weird... but on medium settings I had an average of 30fps and a lot of stuttering... when I tried high-ultra settings it kept saying ‘warning: low video memory’ which I think means that the bandwidth of my ram is limited like you said j3ster.... so I think that means that I gotta upgrade to a ram kit

id assume its the ram limiting performance but for more re-assurance.
try to post in Asus forums, posting your exact laptop model number and ask people with the same model or somehow the same configuration as yours and see if they experience the same thing, it could also be some underlying software issue as well that asus has pre installed that causes horrible dips in performance for a good spec'd machine or some faulty software and worst case, faulty hardware.

Here's the deal. It's not your specs, it's not your memory/RAM, in fact, there are no issues with your device at all, and it should be able and run the game perfectly fine, on even a high quality in-game. I played the game on Epic quality, with smooth frames, and I myself only have 8gigs RAM. Recently, after a new driver update, I started experiencing the same issue, and the game claims my specs are insufficient, even though that is severely inaccurate, and my past is complete proof of it. It's a developer flaw, not a user flaw. Your system is fine, there is no need to upgrade, it's not the fault of your device, and there is no need to blame your device. If you down-grade a driver to a previous version, you may have a chance of playing it smoothly as an immediate solution, but downgrading drivers is typically a bad idea, and it's always best to maintain updated drivers to keep the device running smoothly.
