Hello, I purchased 2 4GB G.Skill NT ram awhile ago, meaning to get an additional 2 sticks of the same as my finances permitted. Unfortunately, the ram is now "out of stock" with a note saying it may never be in stock again. My question is: Can I get 2 sticks of 8GB G.Skill NT ram and have it be compatible with my current ram? Google searching is confusing, because some sources say no, but I just used PC Parts Picker and it offered the 8GB G.Skill NT ram as a compatible addition to my current setup. Can anyone knowledgeable in this stuff verify for me?

My Current RAM (2 x 4GB G.Skill NT):
G.SKILL NT Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2133 (PC4 17000) Intel Z170 Platform / Intel X99 Platform Desktop Memory Model F4-2133C15D-8GNT

Can I add:
G.SKILL NT Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2400 (PC4 19200) Intel Z170 Platform / Intel X99 Platform Desktop Memory Model F4-2400C15S-8GNT

You can mix ram kits, but it has no guarantee of working. The only way to know if it runs stable and is not faulty, is to try it and run a memory tester like memtest86 to check for errors (0 is errors is required for stability). The worst that will happen is you may have to run it with looser timings, lower speed or just return it and try another kit. You don't have to buy the same ram series or brand to mix ram kits. Since your original kit is already at 2133 CL15, you will likely be running the new kit at the same settings, which will have a much higher chance of being compatible and stable.
