Hello, fellow gamers,

I hope this message finds you well.

I've been experiencing some frustratingly low FPS (frames per second) problems while playing games like Albion Online, Valorant, and League of Legends on my gaming PC. Despite having what I thought were decent hardware specs, my average FPS seems to hover between 40 to 80 with a lag spike with a CPU at 40 -50 %, and GPU at 40%, which is far from what I expected.

I made an upgrade from GTX 1660 GP to RTX 4070Ti and I thought it was going to be a huge improvement.

Here are the details of my system:
  • CPU: Intel Core i5 9600k CPU 3.70GHz
  • Motherboard: Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Master
  • Memory: 32GB DDR4
  • Graphics Card: Nvidia RTX 4070Ti
  • Screen Resolution: 3440 x 1440 (165 Refresh Rate)
  • Screen Resolution: 1920 x 1080 (240 Refresh Rate)
Given these specs, I initially believed that I should be getting a much smoother gaming experience. However, I'm experiencing noticeable performance dips, and it's affecting my overall enjoyment of these games. I've tried a few troubleshooting steps but haven't found a definitive solution yet.

Here's what I've done so far:

  1. Driver Updates: I made sure that all my drivers, especially the GPU drivers, are up-to-date.
  2. In-Game Settings: I've adjusted the in-game graphics settings to lower levels, hoping for better performance, but it doesn't seem to have a significant impact.
  3. Background Applications: I've ensured that there are no resource-intensive background applications running while I play.
  4. Temperature Monitoring: I've monitored the temperature of my CPU and GPU to ensure they're not overheating, and they seem to be within acceptable ranges.
  5. Nvidia Control Panel: I tweaked some settings in the Nvidia Control Panel, like setting the power management mode to "Prefer Maximum Performance."
  6. BIOS Update: I did a Bios Update to the latest update which is F11
Despite these efforts, my FPS issues persist. It's particularly frustrating because I've invested in what should be a capable gaming rig.

I'm reaching out to this community in hopes of finding a solution or getting some advice from those who may have experienced similar problems. Has anyone encountered low FPS issues with a similar hardware setup? Do you have any suggestions or recommendations that might help me improve my gaming performance in these titles?

Keep in mind I have watched some videos on YouTube showing good performance in games that are heavier, keep in mind all the games I play in LOW, and on YouTube, they trying it in ULTRA.

Your insights and expertise would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your assistance, and I hope we can collectively solve this issue so I can get back to enjoying my favorite games without interruptions.

Driver Updates: I made sure that all my drivers, especially the GPU drivers, are up-to-date.
Did you use DDU prior to removing the GTX1660Ti from your system? You should consider using DDU again, then remove all GPU drivers from your platform. Once done, you manually reinstall the latest GPU drivers in an elevated command, i.e, Right click installer>Run as Administrator.

BIOS Update: I did a Bios Update to the latest update which is F11
Did you clear the CMOS once you've verified that the BIOS was updated to the latest version?

When posting a thread of troubleshooting nature, it's customary to include your full system's specs. Please list the specs to your build like so:

Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:
Monitor:
include the age of the PSU apart from it's make and model.

I did CMOS once I've verified the latest version

First use DDU and clean all video drivers.
Download latest driver .
run DDU in safe mode.
Reboot
Right click installer and run as administrator.
Costom install.
Check box for perform a clean install.

Most youtube videos are crap.
They do not represent a real world scenario.
To get close to their numbers.
Get 2 new shinny SSDs.
Unplug all other drives.
install one drive.
Install windows
Install motherboard and video drivers.
Install all windows updates.

install 2nd drive
Make a clone of the first drive onto the second drive.
Unplug second drive.

Now install one game onto the first SSD.
ONE GAME ONLY< NOTHING ELSE.
open game and tweek settings like draw distance and shadows to lighten the load on your CPU.
Benchmark your game.
Tweek settings more.
Benchmark again.

Keep lowering shadows, draw distance etc... things that rely on the CPU, not the GPU
You will finally get close to their numbers if you overclock to the limit and lower enough settings to lower the load on the CPU.

Now wipe the first drive and clone the second drive onto the first.
Afresh new copy of updated windows.
Install second game on your list.
ONLY one game nothing else and repeat the above steps again.

Repeat again for the third game. or as needed to reach their numbers.
