Solution

Press ~ and type Perfoverlay.drawgraph 1 and take a screenshot after a frame drop and post it here. Also check your temperatures and make sure there is no throttling.

Im going to have to agree with you on that one, I too am having similar problems. Ive got 2 270x 4gb version. At ultra 1080p in crossfire I used to get ~150fps @stock clocks and now it just runs like shit after about 20mins, also mem dumps like a bastard. But it drops to about 20-40fps.

BF4 performance has really gone to crap since the July 8th update that crippled performance for many people including myself. I couldn't even keep 60fps constant on low settings. But every other game runs perfectly fine. I overclocked my cpu, gpu, even doubled my ram from 8 to 16gb and it didn't help. All of my friends gave up on the game after the horrible launch too, so I figure why bother now...

A guy came here before with a decent pc, fx8350, r9 290,etc and he had bad fps problems too.

I've done alot of research and reading and I've done basically all I can do on my end. No point in having the game on an SSD now either with the ready screen you have to click and the countdown timer after that, I moved the game to my 2tb after the Fall Update.

All in all, the game is a mess, very toxic community....sadly I had more fun playing the old mw3 than bf4. Shame since I loved BF3. BF4 on pc was a disaster. It was more fun and way more smooth on the old xbox 360 when I played on it

they're all older vids, but I can go on youtube and it boggles my mind seeing way weaker pc's beating my fps in bf4. Lots of fx6300s with r9 270x or gtx 760s, even i3s with gtx 660s beating my fps in 64man conquest multiplayer. I've even seen gtx 750ti gameplay on 1080p ultra multiplayer that looked way smoother than mine. But yet EVERY other game in the world I can play fine, what a joke...

I also "love" how on battlelog when people have fps problems they tell them they have to upgrade to windows 8.1 (bleh) , and when the OP or others tell them they ALREADY have windows 8.1 and still get fps problems, magically everybody shuts up and the topic quietly dies, they don't have anything else to say lol. I've seen LOTS of people with overclocked i7s, gtx 780s (even in SLI) , 8-16gb ram, game on ssd, and windows 8.1, and even they said their fps has been crippled.

I also always either had the game crash or stutter trying to use Mantle too. I cleared out the mantle cache, did the DDU driver sweeper thing, and also on battlelog found some 3rd party settings tool that basically forced dx11 and its features off and still randomly get mantle crashing. I'm starting to think mantle was a big fail in that game too.

But I know people will come and say my pc should be more than good enough for 100fps or mantle should work...sigh.

Man tell me about it, that game was so fun when it first came out and for months after that, my friends and I recently returned to playing it and it has been fantastic, until it starts to drop my frames and just not pick them up again. Again same as you I can play any other game at the highest settings @1080p and its great, but then bf4 comes and runs great for a while then drops way off.

never really said this but specs are: Intel Xeon E5-1620@ 4.5ghz <----- Got for free
Asus ROG Extreme 4 x79
16gb of 2133 Team RAM
x2 1tb WD Blacks
x2 270x 4gb on Driver Version: 14.9.2 I think
CX 750 PSU
And again every other game runs like a dream
