Question Frame generation off is more than 2x less FPS

I have a 4070 ti 12900k PC with a 1080p monitor. On THE FINALS, I get 240-280 FPS with frame generation on, which is pretty normal. But when I turn it off, my FPS drops to 100-120, which seems crazy to me. I have a friend with a 4060 ti and 1440p monitor that gets 144+ FPS with no frame generation on the same game. What is happening here? I've seen that this might be a CPU bottleneck. I'm using an air cooler for my 12900k and i only plugged in the 4+4 pcie cable, if that helps (I know it isnt ideal but 100 FPS??)

Hey there,

Is your friend using DLSS, and you're not? That would account for it.

What resolution is your monitor?

What cooler are you using? If the CPU is throttling, you would get below average FPS.
