i have a GTX 1060 6gb and I use Fraps to record games videos. For some reason it eats about 5 fps from my 60fps
on my games.

My cpu doesn't do much while recording(35-45% usage) neither does my GPU(45-55% usage). Temps are normal during
recording.

i use either vsync or I lock my games' fps at 60 to keep GPU temperature down. Is that why I'm getting
this fps fluctuation?

My pc:

CPU:FX6300
MB: Asus M5A78L-M LX V2
RAM: 16GB DDR3
GPU: GTX 1060 6GB MSI
3 HD + 1 SSD
PSU: Gamemax GP 650

Thx in advance for any input!

FRAPS records full frames without encoding which means that it needs a lot of harddrive speed so you should be recording on a different disk than what your game is on.
Also try shadowplay/geforce experience, or OBS with the nvenc encoder, since it will record with the GPU and could have better results.

You might also get a second hard drive and record output to the second drive (obviously SSD/NVMe is better than old tech HD, but any offloading of disk use to another disk is likely to help. Plus what @TerryLaze said about other apps is spot on. You could also switch to something using the GPU (a 1060 isn't all that fast, but it should have NVENC).
