Lol...I just bought myself a Sidewinder USB joystick but I can´t get the bloody thing to work.
I have 2 USB ports on my mobo, one is for my Modem and the other obviously for the joystick.
What am I doing wrong here?, shouldnt it just be enough to just plug it in and p(r)lay?
I checked in gaming options and it is assigned ID number 2, the modem has number 1, I remember that I have had problems earlier when my old joystick had ID 2 for some reason...if I changed it to number 1 it worked.
Crap!, how do I change ID? it just bitches about ID nr 1 is already taken by another device!
help! I want to play Sturmovik now! *sob*

Oh, I can´t even select 'Sidewinder' when browsing the different joystick models...I have checked MS site and found no 'special' drivers for my 'standard Sidewinder', I have tried all the other models and a generic.

Update:
I managed to play Sturmovik without adding the joystick to Gaming options,
but I dont have any throttle control.
Furthermore, I downloaded some old drivers from MS but they don´t work either.
Bah! piece of shitty hardware.

Allright, thanks for the overwhelming amount of replies...
Problem solved, sort of.
It turns out that I need at least Win98SE to make this ploystick to run.

I´ll just have to wait awhile till I install XP and then I can use it with all
the buttons and stuff.
