Free advice acer windows vista support

I can't open any downloads in internet explorer or Mozilla Firefox. I was told that I would never be able to open downloads in these browsers again because it was security issue between the two browses. When I mentioned contacting internet explorer and Mozilla Firefox about this issue, I was told that I could not. I really don't know what to think and I need some advice on what I should do. I just want to know is there hope for my computer?

Yes, I figured that because they used to work fine together on my computer. I don't know what to do. I hired an online service to fix my computer, but I believe the organization is shady. I need help.
