Free Data Recovery Program?

Hey Everyone,

I'm kind of in a pickle at the moment and am wondering if anyone knows of a good free recovery program, that actually recovers the files and not just in a view format.

Have you tryed Recuva by Piriform?

Try Testdisk, available at this site: http://www.cgsecurity.org/
I've used it a few times before, and it's saved me before, but it's not always suitable. Give it a try.

I wish you the best in recovering your data; I know how it feels. I had a giant data problem not very long ago.

EDIT: I didn't realize that you might only mean a few files, rather than filesystem corruption or something of such nature. For that, I'd recommend trying out Recuva, as previously suggested by vesp3r.

Ok Thanks guys, what I forgot to say is that its a mac :l I tried putting it in an external drive bay but windows wont assign it a drive letter for Recuva to find. Any other suggestions? Any mac programs?

easeus does one for mac--though you need the drive in a mac

trying to recover a mac drive in a windows pc is going to be difficult you will need something like macdrive just to see the drives contents

this is probably your best bet--cant see any limitations on the trial version

should allow full read/write access of a mac drive in a windows pc

Ok thanks everyone, I ended up using a program called macdrive to get my pc to pickup the mac drive and used easeus to get the information off it.
