My computer, i7, 4GB Ram, 2 x126 GB SSD's as Win 7 system and data drives, will run continuously for hours on eg Office component programs, Web searching, Media Player etc but shuts down if unused for about 10 minutes. On restarting, it runs perfectly until left idle when it shuts down again . WHY?

Solution
The first thing to ask is did you look into power saving options?

Chances are you have "Hibernate" set to engage after so long. It saves and shuts down into hibernate.

1. Open up the "Power Options" in control panel
2. Choose "Change Plan Settings" for the plan that you are using.
3. Choose "Change advanced power settings"
4. Expand "Sleep" category
5. Expand "Hibernate after"
6. Click the field and select the whole number of minutes - select and delete
7. Type "Never" then hit the "Apply" button the Okay
