My current PC build, I use it only for gaming in 1080p:
  • MB - P8Z77V LK
  • CPU - i5 3570 3.4 GHz with a cooler Zalman CNPS10X Performa+
  • GC - Gigabyte GTX 1060 3 GB
  • RAM - Kingston HyperX 16 GB DDR3-1600 (2x8)
  • PS - Chieftec CFT-600 600 W
My main question is: Is it worth upgrading my CPU to i7 3770k (or non-K) as it's the best CPU for the 1155 slot? I can get a used one for $120.
Following question: If I upgrade is it smart to upgrade the video card as well? I am considering a GTX 1070, although open to other suggestions 😉

Solution
The 3770k is the fastest available CPU, for your board. A GPU upgrade isn't a bad idea, but I wouldn't do anything till you get a better quality power supply. Chieftecs are not very good.

Fastest, yes. But is it gonna reduce GPU bottlenecks or ingame performance in general?

Is my power supply insufficient for the possible upgrade? I’ve been using it for years and it seems to be working just fine. What kind of a PS would you recommend?

Also, what kind of GPU would you recommend to upgrade to? (1070 price segment)

Given how games are finally becoming more multi-threaded, an i7 would definitely be helpful. Pure quad core gaming is starting to see its days numbered. The wattage isn't a real problem, but quality is. A GTX 1660 super, once they are available, would be a good fit, for your system. It was just released yesterday. For PSU, a corsair CX550m/650m for a budget option. Corsair TXM golds for the next step up, in quality. Corsair RMx, Seasonic Focus gold and Evga G2/g3, for the more high end units.
