Trying to get this to work!

Here is what my MB shows as connectors and pins to connect:

PIN 1: PORT1L
PIN 2: GRD
PIN 3: PORT1R
PIN 4: PRESENCE#
PIN 5: PORT2R
PIN 6: SENSE1_RETUR
PIN 7: SENSE_SEND
PIN 9: PORT2L
PIN10: SENSE2_RETUR

Here are the connectors I have:

MIC-IN
MIC GRD
SPK GRD
RET-R
RET-L

Where would each connector go...thanks!

I think you are right. I am sure MB is HD, but I'm thinking case is AC97. I can get the speaker in the front case to work, but not the mic.

I did go into bios yesturday, and changed the front panel to AC97. I left HD enabled still. However, all audio (front and back) would not work after the change. Further, I then tried to disable HD all together thinking the front audio would work on AC97, but it stated no sound card found. When moving to AC97, I lost sound card for HD too.

The back HD audio came with the motherboard built-in. As far as I can tell! The front audio has 2 USB, and the audio running from it which does look like it is built-in with the case. The USB ports in the front work fine.

I'm not sure about the HD header you are speaking of. Perhaps, you could elaborate for me?
Does this seem like a lost cause trying to get the front audio to work at this point IF the case is AC97, but MB is HD? Or, is there a way to figure this out?

Could I somehow disconnect the AC97 front audio, and replace it with HD? It looks like it is welded on there lol. It might be a lot more than unplugging and plugging in this case to change it.

Thanks in advance!

I have a ASUS Intel Socket 775 Intel Chipset P5K-E/Wifi-Ap OR P5K-E. I even have firewire ports on the back, etc. All kinds of HD connections for major speaker stuff I guess.

I can check for that other connector in there. I did not see it. Unless, it is wrapped up somewhere or hiding, I did not see it. I will look again soon once I can boot down here. I have things on here that need completion before booting down though.

The front audio does not have anything more running from it then what I stated in the beginning of this thread. I have yet to find any solution to this. I tried switching to ac97 in the bios, but then no audio would work anywhere. at this point, i either need to find a match for the connectors i stated i have with the 9 (10) pins available) that I originally posted about with what the motherboard describes each pin......OR I may want to forget about front audio unless I can install HD front audio somehow.

Would like some feedback on this further please!
