Front Panel Connector Problem

so i connect the front panel connectors into z97 gaming 5 motherboard .
i know its correct
but when i turn it on .
it suddenly smoke . smells like rubber . coming form the front panel board

so i immediately turn it off

does misconnection of positive and negative . lead to short circuit

or its just the chassis problem...


but I know it is connected properly

What are your specs?

It sounds like a short issue. I'd trace each wire from the front panel and see which on looks a little discolored or bare in a spot. The insulation maybe rubbed off and some electrical tape will correct the issue.

but is it possible to have short issue if I misconnect the pins in the mobo.
for intances like.
positive and negative of led misconnects . possitive to negatvie and negative to positive .

I got really scared when i saw it smoke.

so Its not my problem isn't

If your sure you were plugging the front panel connector into the right block there should be no big issue even if you connect them backwards. There is a on/off switch, a reset switch and LEDs. You are sure your plugging it in to the right block?

I would replace that PSU ,probably not the issue , but they are very poor quality.

Most made by low grade companies like HEC.

I wouldn't recommend one for any builds.
