FSB Rating on TBirds - Help?!

I just bought a new Tbird chip (1 GHz). Originally, I thought that you could run the chip at any FSB you wanted. But now I find out that b chips run at 100 MHz (10 X 100 MHz FSB) and C chips run the FSB at 133 Mhz (7.5 X 133 MHz FSB). How can you make sure what chip you have without pulling off the Heat sink unit?

Also, I am pretty sure I have a b chip with FSB of 100MHz. Currently it is running at 10 X 100 MHz FSB). How much am I going to be "pushing" the chip if I overclock it to 133 MHz but keet the processor the same speed (ie now 7.5 X 133 MHz = 1000 MHz). I want to know cuz I wan the extra bus speed but I do not want to push the chip too hard, so it will "live a long life". The chip belongs to a friend and I don't want it to burn up on him.

PS. The mobo will handle the extra bus speed no problem (KT7A Raid).

Any help would be appredicated.

Actually IF you OC to 133Mhz FSB but lower the multiplier to 7.5 (that means having the multipliers on the processor UNLOCKED)you should be fine (hey 10x100=7.5x133, to the processor it's the same, 1Gig is allways 1Gig) IF your system allows that (meaning you memory supports 133Mhz).

If you suceed just keep an eye on the temperature... just in case (it should make no diference, but hey, better safe then sorry).

Anyways, you can only do this IFF the multipliers on the processor are unlocked, otherwise your stuck at 10xFSB so if FSB=133, i reckon 10x133=1330Mhz, the processor won't boot at all (1.3Gig too high for 1Gig TB)

I don't think there is any diff between B and C. Make sure you got good memory, and run it! You gotta nice mobo. Watch the temps, and it should be fine.
