Full screen with HDTV

Alright. I am in the process of finishing my budget build. I have an i5-4590 r9 270x and 8gb of ram. Everything is running fine. I'm using a 32inch Emerson HDTV HDMI on the back of my GPU. When I fondle with the resolution I can never get it to fill the screen.. Well I do but only on resolutions that don't fit my aspect ratio and I'm missing edges. When I use 1080 or 720 it fits but there a border all around and just needs to be zoomed in a little and the image quality is trash. I have VGA on the back of my mobo that give me better quality for some reason and i can fill the screen at 1080 but when I use it I don't think my 270x is being used. Is there a driver or some kind of program I can run, if so link... I'm getting a monitor soon but not for another couple weeks.

Go into Catalyst control centre - there is an Overscan setting; slide that up to the max.
