Function key sequence on laptop?

Hi,

Can someone please tell me the function key sequence at startup to
enable the battery optimizer. My HP laptop has been repaired twice
under warranty and it still has 2 months to go. each time it comes
back the battery life is abysmal. Disconnecting the mains when it is
switched off loses about 5% battery life.

Last time a HP tech told me the keys sequence, but unfortunately I've
forgotten what it was. Never thought I would have to use it again:-((

TIA
Please remove obvious from email address if emailing.

Just had this from tech support.

No prizes for guessing where it is located. Checkout the English.

You didn't say which HP laptop, nor which OS (Why bother with such
'details'? :-(), but on my HP OmniBook vt6200 with Windows XP, it is
(for example) Control Panel -> Power Options -> HP Battery Optimizer.
Or, if the power icon is on the Taskbar, right-click it and select
Adjust Power Properties -> HP Battery Optimizer.

I am not aware of a "function key sequence" for this, but perhaps that
is part of or can be made part of the HP One-Touch facility.

5% in how much time?

<<HP laptop, nor which OS >>

True. I thought it would be the same for all. It is a HP ZE4560US.

Re O/S, what is the point when I am specifically asking for the
sequence on bootup, before it gets anywhere near Windows (XP home
anyway)

I have since discovered that it is F6 when you see prompt for F2 to
enter setup. I have been informed that this was for 'old' laptops by
India, but it obviously applies to new laptops as well.

5% in less than 5 minutes when the m/c is switched off. Literally
moving it from upstatirs to downstairs.

Having run that optimizer now and left it switched off with no mains
for 14 hours it drops to 99%.

Ah, I see! You said "at startup" (not "bootup") and did not say
anything about not loading the OS. "startup" is a broad term and might
include login (if at all applicable) at which time the power icon is put
in the taskbar. So, no big deal, but I hope you understand why someone
could read something else, than you intended, from what you actually
wrote.

Thanks. That also works for my HP OmniBook vt6200.

I don't see what difference (with the power icon) it makes for *your*
situation, but I guess it might be handy for other situations like a
nearly completely 'unoptimized' battery, an OS which does not have the
"Power Options" software, etc..

Thanks for the information/update.

Oops I did, and for that I apologise.
