Ok... Most LCD Manufactures List The Fastest average Responce Time The Panel Is Capable Of (Eg: 12ms) But Thats Not Alwayse The Case In Actual Performnce For Example Some 12ms Monitors During Gaming May At Times (For Example During Certain Color Changes At The Per-Pixel Level) May Result In Moments Where The Monitor Is Reatching Responce Times Of Say 30ms, Well Im Thinking SGI May Have Listed It Slowest Responce Rate To Be More Truthfull So During Its Fastest Per-Pixel Color Changes When Being Optimal May Be Reaching Speeds On The 16ms - 20ms Range If That Makes sence

It's possible, but respond time include light on and light off time. So a 12ms might be like 8 ms to lit a pixel and 4 to turn it off. 16 ms is in fact 12 to lit on and 4 to turn off..

yeah... anyway.. Intel fanboy are more fun to play with...

nahh AMD fan boys are much more fun,
they get pissed off just at hearing intel and 3 ghz.

i hate jaggies... so many jaggies in FEAR

my friends got a 9700 pro, and he runs it in 800x600 so its
"smoo000th" as he says.

I think TheMaster need a flame war award. Or at least a moron award.

What really funny is I have a laptop that not over clock and faster then your destkop and is Intel. Intel 3.4 ee L3 2mb cache 1gb ram

But It still seems my Amd 64 3000+ with 2gb ram run onpar with my laptop.

Why? Extra ram and also onboard controler.

I look at Intel and amd like car motors.

Intel a V8 More engery driven. And More heat = Gas milage sucks.

Amd is like a Inline 6 Or V6 Less Power Needded More horse Power then a V8 and gas Milage Great.

problery somthing to do with a faster hdd to..

and TheMaster while you seem to think its fun starting flame wars it realy isent needed.

go check the cpu charts here to see what we mean, the AMD's are out benchmarking intels easly.

and the simple reason (as far as i understand it) is that intell has a longer instruction pipe meaning it takes more cycles to get an instructin through the pipe than an amd cpu, i will fully admit to not having a full understanding of how this is that thats it.

also the reason intel has hyperthreading that alloows diffrent calculations to be happening in the pipe line at the same time working on diffrent things (again not quite sure so dont flame if its wrong :))

and on topic, the FX-57 is expensive but it your even considering a FX series processor you are seriously in to your computer and whant lots of power and are more than likly going to overclock it. and the FX-57 *should* reach highter speeds than the FX-55

as for LCD monitor response times its usualy quoted as the grey- grey time

i just think its funny when people want to "upgrade" their 3.0 ghz intel for a dual amd core... that runs at 2.6 ghz. Esepecially that the dual core doesn't really help that much in games that are gpu limited.

Games though important are not all some people want to do with their PCs.

I multitask a lot and even though i play games (farcry n fear) my PC hasnt been shut down for the last 4 months but is contributing to mankind by helping find cures for diseases by Folding proteins at home.(which may be just what will keep you alive infuture :? )

Try loading Folding@home program on your current PC to always run in the backgroung at normal priority, then at the same time run an antivirus scan while you are listining to music and encoding a DVD.plus your messenger running at the corner. If your system can survive this then to me it has proven its worth. Not just hitting supersonic points in a Game benchmark, this means nothing to me.

i guess we all have our own different opinions right?.

hey dude
from your posts you're probably mooching off your parents or probably someone living in the dumps with a p4 3.0ghz system.

wait till u're working for the cash THEN u come in and say u have the fastest system ever built.

generally i dont get pissed. you're just one of those kind that make me feel irritated.

i just want to say that Prescott's aren't that bad. I have a 630 Prescott 3,0 ghz and i oc-ed it @ 3,750 ghz (250 mhz fs) without any problems, without increasing voltage and without overheating issue. I have an Arctic Freezer 7 Pro cooler and my temp in idle are around 40 degrees C or less (oc-ed).

I had an Athlon 64 3200+Venice but I had only problems with it. maybe it was the mobo (Abit AN-8 ultra) or smthing else but anyway I decided to switch to Intel am I very pleased with this one, no problems at all, playing games at high resolutions and settings.

I don't realy know. I tried it just this far. i will receive a new PSU next week and maybe then i will try to achieve more. but anyway for now it's good enough for me.

I'm really glad you're one of those lucky people who liked their Prescott.
Unfortunately for most others this isn't the case.

If you read my post above Wussy, i like my Prescott too. amd i also know a couple of others too who like theirs.

As i said above we all have our own different opinions.

I'm sorry you ran into a problem with your Amd setup.
Truth is, you lost ~ 15% performance, spent extra $ and are using about 50 watts more power, and have to deal with the extra heat.
If you are happy with that, so be it.
There are a lot of people who are happy with there little easy bake ovens.
They have my sympathy.

I don't' feel like I lost 15% perfomance, my Windows is running smoother, applications open up really fast (faster than[/quote] with my Venice), in games I don't see any perfomance loss, in 3dmark I got ~ the same scores, and the extra $ is nothing because now AMD raised their prices for cpu's, and now 3200+ Venice is ~ the same price as a Pentium 4 630, and the extra heat...no extra heat. My AMD setup was around 33-34 degrees C idle, and my Prescot is around 40 degrees C overclocked. The only thing is the power consumption, but I can live with that 😀

I don't remember calling you stupid or smthing else...I just said the things that happened to me. The reason why my AMD system did not run properly was that nvidia didn't had a proper driver for the ATAPI units. I couldn't write a cd because it burned all of them, i got a newer driver, the same, my IDE interface was running that slow than if I was watching a movie and doing smthing else I got "speed troubles" with the player. and I am not the only one this happened to. I saw on forums that a lot of people had problems with this, and I don't think calling user's stupid means is their fault. I have my Prescott for a few months now and I have no problem with it (overclocked), so I guess I can keep my system running if everything is ok. I didn't entered here to be judged by others, but just to say my opinion.

I am not jumping in here on either side, but if raw clock speed is so important, why did Intel back away from going over 4 GHz?

Those of us that understand computers know that their is far more involved in determining performance than just raw speed. Thats one reason why both AMD AND Intel changed their naming schemes to no longer include clock speed.

In the future please don't start trouble when you don't know what you are talking about.

I tried to just stand back and watch but this has now got to a point that i must express an opinion (kindly excuse me for doing so)

@ Specter

Dont take it too hard on your self sir, actually i dont see why you should be apologising as you didnt do anything wrong.
Someone clearly attributed something to your stupidity and if he is gentleman enough ,an apology should have followed.

You simply told him your experience and your prefrence and i cant see why he cant respect you for that.

Trashing anybodys system is not intelectually beneficial :!: no one here personally manufactured any processor, all you did was pay for it and that hardly gives us the right to take credit for its performance. What are you trying to show? that you are smart in making your purchases? No way sir! you just reveal how shallow we are by wasting time on trashing each others systems and insulting our intellect.

:!: Lets use this time and forum for what it was ment for and mentally better ourselvs and help each other to smoother computing :!:

Some folk like a sleek Honda with its fuel economy and fast acceleration, others like a cadillac even though it consumes more fuel and doesnt have all the electrical gadgets the honda does.
Cadillac people, made that choice based on personal reasons. I dont understand why people can just have the decency to accept people the way they are.
You drive a honda ,i drive a cadillac, lets try and live together.

thank you for your intervention link75. exactly that was my point to. I really don't care about this things. smbdy says one is better or other is better, and let's make fun of each other. the thing is that you just have to find what pleases you and that is the best for you. PERIOD
