FX 6300 3.5 sexacore or six core idle and load temps.

I just picked up the mentioned processor and I'm having trouble gauging my temps. I am using stock cooler with stock paste, on start up I get temps of 30 then after all programs load it drops down to 13C idle. When running prime95 it almost instantly jumps to about 40C and slowly but surly keeps increasing, I think I cut it off at 65C and let it cool back down. I have looked around on here about temps for this specific chip, I have also seen the sticky thread about it. My main concern is what program will give me the true temp under load since I'm a little worried about using core temp until I can verify its correct.
 
I know the idle temps aren't right for sure, as im typing this core temp is reading 13C. I was just wondering if there's any other programs that are about as accurate as core temp i can run while gaming so i can make sure im going to fry the poor little chip. Is there a way i could use bios to read under the pressure of prime95 to see what the true temps are?
Dunlop, i used the pre-applied paste that was on the stock cooler and I am 100% i installed it correctly.
 


Nope they are all useless for amd its a shame really. What i do is set my bios to beep when the cpu reaches 60c so i now to slow things down or stop whatever im doing so if you have a case speker thats what i would do.
 
That really sucks, i just checked bios and its idle at 42C on the cpu. That is really strange cause it was correct for my last AMD chip which was the phenom II x4 925 it was almost spot on across the board. Even a program made by amd to register the temp doesn't exist or just doesn't preform well?
 
So I know that the temps on these fx chips are not accurate at a low load and low temp but when I run prime 95 and it jumps to 40 almost instantly and climbs to 60 slowly, do you think that core temp is correct there at least or is it going to be wrong still?

Okay well judging on what I saw on bios temps and what i see in HWmonitor, I believe that the first temp under the mail board tab is reflecting the socket temp which is better than nothing but those run just a tad bit hotter than the cores right?
 
This is beyond frustrating, I got the evo 212 heatsink and fan just to be safe gonna save up for a liquid cooler. Is there any temp reader I can at least trust under load? Somebody with this chip please chime in.
 
Prime95, at first it's core temp would shoot to 40c then climb to 60 slowly that was in core temp program. Yesterday I did a test and temps showed something like 48 socket temp and 28 core temp under 100% load. The more and more I look into this it just drives me crazy that they would design something this poorly yet boast about its oc abilities. Sigh.

Last night I was playing civilization 5 which I not all that demanding and I was running hwmonitor core temp and amd overdrive, and tmpin0 (in hwmonitor) which everyone says is core temp hit 225c but was at about 47c after I quit the game. There's just too many things wrong with the monitor. I can't even get a ballpark that I feel safe trusting.

I get some picks of temp monitors tonight and of case and fan set up.
20C is like 68 degrees Fahrenheit so that is crazy cool and most likely wrong unless you have got liquid cooling.
 
civilization 5 is one of the most cpu intenesive games just saying! and id get myself an aftermarket cooler i can vow for CM Hyper evo 212 or seidon 120v both are good but the seidon 120v is better
 
My evo 212 just got here actually lol. But playing civ5 there's no way my temps hit anywhere close to 225c if they don't using prime 95. You use openhw monitor right? How are you sure you can trust temps from there?

Msi a70a-g64
Amd fx 6300 clocked at 3.5(stock)
About to put in the evo 212 cooler will update temps when finished
GeForce gtx 560ti 2gb Max clock speed is 2500 I believe. Equipped with Eva precision it idles at 31 full load it never goes over 68c even after hours and that's at 55% fan
4gb ram DDR3 (will buy more in 2 weeks)
2 hdds one 750 one 500 gbs

I have the thermaltake commander snow edition with intake on bottom along with psu on bottom (elevated)
Intake on side and in back in front of CPU heatsink, then two 90mm outtake fans on top that never pull extremely hot air.
Okay i got it all installed, it is now showing while running prime 95 it is showing core temp as 19C, socket temp at 40C, and 50 away from max temp on AMD overdrive, when i booted up and entered bios it was at 35-37 up and down.
So one final try, to trust this cpu and mobo or not?
 


That's wrong, there are quite a few programs that detect temps correctly when it comes to the AM3+ processors (the FM series is where it gets funny), it just comes down to reading the right temps.

Here's a few programs you can use to monitor temps:
HWiNFO64
HWmonitor
AIDA64 <-- This is the program i use 99% of the time.

There are 2 temps you need to monitor:
Socket, max safe temp - 70.
Cores, max safe temp - 62.

I would avoid using prime95, use this when overclocking for stability purposes, it puts an extreme amount of stress on the cpu which is unrealistic in most situations unless you are doing video editing and what not where you are maxing the cpu.
To get a more real world temp i suggest using AIDA64's build in stability test, it runs the cpu at 100% but with far less stress then prime95.

A note about temps, when idling ignore the core temps they are never accurate until about 40 degrees, rely on the socket temps when idling.
 
So what if they don't go over 40c? I ran prime95 for about 40 mins and it never went over 20c on the core temp and 42 on socket temp using he monitor. Auda is spot on with all temps from hemonitor.
 
If your getting them temps you either have great cooling, low ambient temps or the temp sensors are wrong, could also be a combination of all 3?
What does the cpu cooler feel like to touch? If its warm then id say the heatsink is doing its job and them temps are correct.
 
I have the evo 212 pullin air facing toward my ram slots then a 120mm places at a 90 degree angle from the heat sink fan pulling air straight out. I haven't touched heatsink but I've seen how hot the air blowing out is an it's not hot at all. Room temp is 23c or 73F. I know it's not right cause socket temp is 25-30c higher than core and core doesn't go above 40. So best thing I have to go off is socket temp.
