Hi I'm new to this site but have been using it for months to research things. I've recently tried overclocking my fx 6300 black unlocked edition. I am unable to get passed 4.0 ghz. last night i tried to get to 4.1 ghz. It just BSOD or the computer is in a constant loop of restarting. (I have windows 10 btw) My cpu cooler is an H60 and my temps seem fine around 26 C at lowest. I also have an r9 280x in my system and a 600 watt psu. Any ideas on what i might be doing wrong. I tried overclocking through amd cpu overdrive and bios. I would really like to push my cpu a bit higher without it crashing on me. Thanks guys :)

Just a suggestion, Im using the 990FXA-UD3 R5 and im able to hit 4.8@1.444v on air right now @68c 6 hour stress testing (70 is the thermal limit) 55-60 in BF4 ultra settings with my GTX 960. it only cost me 110, but i think it just raised to 130 on newegg. Same processor you have though. Fx 6300.

NewEgg cut the price $20 last night and added a $10 rebate on the GA-970A-UD3P listed above. (It's always good to get NewEgg E-Blast email alerts :) )

The 990FXA-UD3 and the 970A-UD3P essentially have the same PWM - - - - not sure what the latest 'R5' version brings to the table over the original 990FXA-UD3. It does have 42 PCIe lanes (24 on the 970A-UD3P) and 2x eSATA if that is of interest.
