I checked my mainboard and discovered i wouldn't have to change it.
So my questions is will i receive boost in performance if upgrade my phenon to fx 8300.
Thanks for the info,
cheers
One of the main complaints against the FX CPUs back in the day was they were not a clear performance improvement, in gaming, over the top line Phenom II X4s. And that was when they were brand new tech.
Today? I would 'upgrade' IF I got the CPU for such a low cost it was almost free. Otherwise I would use the 965 until I was ready to put together a new system.
Assuming your mainboard supports it,
First, you should see about max around 10% faster single core speed but with more cores/threads.
If you plan mainly to game, you should see almost no difference.
The second thing is, why upgrade to a long obsolete processor.
Save your money and go for Ryzen or CoffeeLake or newer.
