Ok I have an old I5 530 with a crappy gt 220 card, it's time to upgrade!

Has wow gotten better with Amd? 8300 series? I know Intel was better single core/thread compared to Amd but wondering if and had improved.

Looking to raid again , nothing crazy not looking to run on ultra settings but would be nice to run good/high with 30 people killing a boss. I can get my hands in an 8320 8 gigs of ram and an r7 270 for under $500

Anybody play wow on this system?

Thanks ahead!

I have an 8350 and I get around 60-100 fps on ultra and was thinking of switching to Intel as I saw people with newer Intel cards had much smoother game play even on small things such as loading into a world with no lag etc. When I would load in I would lag and then after about 5-10 seconds everything would smooth out. (Outside Stormwind/Orgrimmar with tons of people on Tichondrius) but I would watch people streaming, playing on Ultra, with tons of action going on around them and there would not even be the slightest glitch (I am assuming they had a good motherboard, ram, power supply)

Well, here is what Blizzard recommends for WoW hardware-wise...

Can't say I've been in an instance of more than 10 people, but generally playing maxed out in 1080p, my 280X is giving 100% usage, so my FX 6300 4.5 GHz isn't a bottleneck. Using an i7 would net me the same experience by all intents and purposes. Never went to a massively populated city to see how the CPU holds up though.

Anyway, since WoW implemented DX11, the engine has been really good at multithreading. Using an FX 8300/8320 overclocked to 4.2 GHz+ with a 270 will net a completely pleasant experience.

Wow looks really good nowadays and runs marvelous as well. If Blizzards ever decides to implement DX12, the CPU problem should disappear completely almost regardless of CPU.
