FX4130 overclock help

Hi

I am wanting to overclock my pc, I have read many threads and still don't know how to start. I have an AMD fx4130, GTX970, ASUS m5a97 r2.0, stock fans heat sink, I would actually like to overclock both my CPU and GPU a little, I think I can benefit from that while my new rig is complete. So I used msi afterburner and im getting these readings after some over clock

GPU 1490MHz/3903MHz running at 80 degrees C, the whole time i have Uniengine running at ultra, is this safe ?

My values are
Power Limit 100
Temp limit 85
core clock 200
memory clock 400
fan speed 68

is it safe to increase the power limit? this is my first time to overclock anything so any input would be great

While that link does have a lot of good information there is a lot of unnecessary steps in it for Overclocking the GPU.

As for the overclocking the CPU you will need an aftermarket CPU cooler to overclock it. The stock CPU cooler for the FX are barely adequate for stock temperatures.

Lets start with the GPU. Download OCCT but only use this program for testing your GPU since the other parts of it don't work properly for testing components.

How to set up OCCT: click on the GPU tab and select the Error Checking option. This option will tell you if the GPU is unstable with out having to stare at the screen.
Next: set the shader count to 3 for Nvidia or 7 for AMD/ATI GPU's. Now OCCT is set up ready to test BUT do not use the PC when running the test or you will get false positive errors.

You can use MSI afterburner, which I personally like myself, for overclocking the GPU. This will take time to do it correctly so don't rush this will take a day or two to finish and be stable.

raising the power limit adjusts the point the GPU will throttle allowing for it to reach a higher overclock but at the risk of overheating the GPU. THe maxiumum temperature that GPU can withstand is 98°C so keep it under this. Try to set it to throttle the speed at 88°C and no more to keep your card safe.

start by raising the core frequency by 10 MHz and test for 20 minutes if no errors then up it 10 more then test and so on till it errors. Back it down by 5 MHz and retest. If it errors back it down by 1's till it stops and test for 30 minutes. Write this number down on a piece of paper and move on to the shaders and repeat the process and so on for the memory.

After you have the maximum of all three clocks put them together and test for 1 hour. IF it errors back the core down by 20 MHz and re test, this is just to see which one is not playing nice with the others, if the errors do not stop set it back and lower the shaders by 20 and test and so on for the memory. Once the culprit is found set it back and lower it by 5 MHz and test. Do so till it stops having errors and up it by 1's till it errors and back it down by 1 and you will have your maximum overclock for your GPU.

At this point I will not help you with overclocking your FX chip until you have a better CPU cooler. I am doing this to keep you from damaging your CPU.
