[SOLVED] G-Sync accessible when using displayport with an HDMI adapter?

Hi,

I am currently researching and looking into this display: https://www.amazon.co.uk/ASUS-PG279Q-Gaming-Monitor-G-Sync/dp/B017EVR2VM

However, from what I have read, in order to take full advantage of what this display has to offer(G-Sync, 1440p at 165hz), I need to use the displayport connection as it is the fastest/best on the market.

The problem is that I do not have a displayport input in my computer and I am wondering if I use an HDMI adapter, will I still have access to G-sync, 165hz at 1440p etc...

I may not have been as thorough as I should have been, but I have found it difficult to get a definitive answer for this.

With an adapter, you cannot use G-sync.
HDMI 1.4+ can be used to get 144Hz at 1080p, not 1440p.
HDMI 2.0 can be used to get 144Hz at 1440p.

Displayport is an all-rounder and can get 165Hz on 1440p+

You obviously have to make sure your monitor is the relevant HDMI version also.
