my GPU stays around 50 - 60 degree C when idle and it's core-clock 135 MHz and memory clock is 405 MHz and it's fans turned off
when under load it's 70 -77 C
i have phantom 530 case with two preinstalled fans i didn't change anything
and i have 2 drive cages installed from bottom
ambient temp is 26C
and running my monitor at 144 Hz
CPU i7 5820k (not overclocked)
cooler CM hyper 212 evo (with stock fan)
MOBO gigabyte gaming 5p
Ram 16g crucial ballistic
GPU G1 Gtx 980 Ti
so what is the issue here ,, is it the airflow inside the case or there is a problem in the card itself or that's normal

Solution
your temps look inline with what they reported ??

case air flow -room temp - how the guy at the factory put it together that day and so on for all you know the guy says his is 34c at idle and his room is like a icebox and your room is like at the equator ?? so ya his card should be cooler ?/

from brand to brand how and what cooler they use is it more efficient better thermal paste fan type used fan speed or profile
on and on .....

i have tried msi afterburner and GPU-Z and OC- guru all same temp results but i noticed something except in OC-guru it's showing me that my memory clock is 810 MHZ and in msi afterburner showing me it's 405 MHZ

seems I read that some of that NVidia gimmickware can cause the gup not to downclock when it should be idle causing the gpu to run hot ?

examples if it can help any ??

''my GPU stays around 50 - 60 degree C when idle and it's core-clock 135 MHz and memory clock is 405 MHz and it's fans turned off

I also feel all that looks normal for the 900 series cards [there fan profile deal has had a few scratching there heads on why ?? ]

I have "several" 900 series cards and they don't do that so no, it's not "normal". *fact*

the issue in the link you posted is that the GPU doesn't downclock but mine does actually but with high temp i have 135 MHZ core clock when idle

do you have your fan off when idle ?

if you say so

'' With this configuration my ambient temp in a room of 65F is about 45C on the GPU. in the same ambient temp under load is 72C and never goes above that number.

g1 end user review

looks close here as well

https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Gigabyte/GTX_980_Ti_G1_Gaming/34.html

now depending on his room air temp case air flow and all can be a big factor as well

so how far off is he from what he said above ?? then why is water in a demand and sought after ??

so you think that is completely normal for that card ?

No.

there review of this card shows 47 idle and 70 gaming

http://hexus.net/tech/reviews/graphics/84284-gigabyte-geforce-gtx-980-ti-g1-gaming/?page=12

thing is these card fans may not start to spin until say 60c

like I said unless you do your own custom fan profile so now knowing that if your room ambient room temp is what ever that's all you can expect at idle

so back to if your room is as cold as a ice box your idle temps wil be lower that if your room is like a oven

ever read guys getting these air cooled cards and then go looking for a watter block for them ??

to me I would not worry too much about idle as long as its with in whats poster and reviewed so I think your fine there .. now then you say at full load your only getting it to max at 77c ??

well look around and see where guys cards get 85c so yoiur still on the good side of things

[opinion]

reading up I seen this ''WindForce logo with white LED-backed 'Stop' and 'Silent' markings. The card's three fans switch off completely under low load, which is always good to see, and these two markings light up when the card is in a zero-fan-mode state.

do you need or have tried to flip that switch to see what changes ??

looking at that review above and I thought mousemomkey said awhile back he used the zotac brand card and look how well it did at idle 29c .. nice

my deal is to me why do they need 3 fans to do the same job as the rest with 2 fans ?? then like most the factory fan profile may not activate the fans until it reaches 60/65c anyway ,so.......
